Renewal came up on the car insurance with the AA @ £178.

OK time to do some surfing.

Moneysupermarket came up with £117 with Swinton....................... -£61

They followed up with a mail shot offering me THE LOWEST QUOTE and £100 cashback ???????

Phoned them up and 2031 questions later the call centre guy proudly offered me his BEST quote........... £238................. + £ 121 ???

SEEYA.

Went back online and proceeded to accept the £117 quote.
All details OK but I wanted to change the renewal date from 23rd. to 24th April.

Got to the checkout page and the quote had increased to £141 ?????????

Start again, leave it at 23rd, paid at £117 ................ saved £61 :thumbup

When I checked the insurer it turned out to be RSA.................. the same company as I am currently with at the AA ???????????

Those poor sods without access to the internet are getting RINSED.
I used to not give a foc, then I discovered Red Bull and now I don't give a flying foc !!!

I'm currently playing this game with my car, trying to figure out the best combination to get the lowest price :P

Last year I changed the renewal date by 2 or 3 days and it saved me £200... I just don't understand how that makes sense!?!

This year I have added on two friends (not even relatives) and its saved me £150 so far. Just waiting until after my birthday just in case their systems don't recognise that I'll be a year older when I renew :D

I needed to take my NCB renewal proof to the local office of Swinton this morning.

Got a £25 parking ticket for being TWO MINUTES late back to move the car.

That's worth challenging del - they are supposed to take a reasonable stance on that kinda thing, as in allow some grace, 2 minster isn't reasonable!

I wouldnt touch swinton with a bargepole, even if they paid me £121

I value my sanity far greater than that, the stress that it puts on your system having to actually deal with those incompetent fuckwits aint worth the saving of a few quid. One kf the times I was insured with them I managed to save a couple of quid on my policy as they were the cheapest, but when I tried to make a simple ammendment it ended up costing me a new phone and a holein the plasterboard wall where I slammed it through out of sheer frustration. No lie, just save yourself the aggravation.

Learnt never to speak to swinton on the phone, focwits following a script as long as your arm.

The funniest thing is when they puit you on hold trying to get you the best possible price and you just know they are getting a cup of tea!

I've been with admiral since I passed my car test. Bike is with bennets.

Always good to have a look about and then give your current providers a phone when your policy is up for renewal. You'll always get money off what they've quoted for the renewal. It's such a scam when it says "we've checked all our underwriters and £xxx is the best we can offer you" then you phone them up and all of a sudden you can get £60 off... Always phone and question the renewal price!

Chris

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

Just renewed bike and cage today, had a 6 wheel policy with Carole Nash, they wanted £475 for both vehicles, got car down to £168 with Churchhill and bike at £97 nearly half of renewal asking price, only difference is non of the vehicles have recovery on them now and I cannot carry pillion on bike, not a problem as wife will not go on back anyway.

When I called Carole Nash to say I was not renewing the call centre did not even ask why not, think they knew the reason though.
If you worried about falling off your bike, you'd never get on.

Wow, that's nuts! You saved loads! Get some AA cover seperate your insurance, it's saved my ass a few times, even when I was just a passenger in my friends car and he cracked the sump on his car.

I was with Admiral last year but the couldn't beat a quote I had for £300 less so changed, but I think I'll be going back to them this year :) Was with MCN for my bike previously but currently am with Bennetts as well :D

Both Bennetts and Admiral have seemed pretty good, only reason I would change is if the prices are drastically different to other companies. That's becoming less and less of a problem now that I'm getting older, so hopefully I should stop bouncing between all the different and random dodgy (but cheap) internet insurers :P

Was talking to a bloke last night, his renewal had come through, but before he could do anything about it, he also collected 3 points for speeding. He rings his insurer (forget who, sorry) and confesses his crime. The impact on his renewal?

50 quid cheaper :rollin :rollin

The whole lot is ridiculous.

I changed my car at the same time as my renewal was due, and it went from 1100 per year up to 1950! Called them up, and they said let me talk to the underwriter, came back and said, we have applied the maximum discount available and it came down to 1530 or so!

I said why didnt you do that first! Mental.

I have just renewed the bike insurance. Paid around £130 last year. Renewal quote from Swinton came in at around £200 this year so I shopped around and got it for £100!

Yes, my wife is like that. I always troll the net for the best deal each year. I dont think ive ever stayed with the same insurance company more than two years, and that is rarely. Even before confused/meerkats etc, i would of rang around to get the best quote.
