General / Impressive Streetfighter
« on: 21 May 2015, 04:56:12 pm »
Zef Eisenberg's turbine bike, goes out as a streetfighter and knocks up 231.5mph  :eek

Turbine
Turbine

Then decides he can get some more out of it so puts some clip-ons on, so is now not classed a streetfighter, but still has no fairing and pushes it to 233.7mph  :smokin

And that belly pan don't look that aero dynamic either

FZS600 Fazer / Bosch Spark plugs
« on: 08 January 2015, 06:04:52 pm »
Has anyone tried Bosch sparkplugs ?

Not worried about going for Iridium plugs, standard ones seem to wear well enough, hence .....

I can get Bosch UR2CC Yttrium-enhanced for £3.48 each inc postage,
(equivalent to NGK CR8E if I have not cock'd-up, please tell me if I have) as opposed to £4.56 for NGK's, or £4.25 for Denso U24ESR-N

All good makes, so tempted to give the Bosch a wirl, any opinions welcomed

General / Biggest Bike Ride
« on: 23 September 2014, 04:57:26 pm »
Well, new experience for me, the largest one I have been on was last weekend, the anual Oakley Waterman Charity Ride.
470 bikes clicked in for the start and others joined around the lap of the island, impressive turn out for an island thats only 24.5 Sq.miles and 7 miles long.
Wiered feeling knowing there is a police escort at the front, yet getting a fair pace on at times, legal speading ?  :lol  ?
Police and marshal bikers at junctions, so we could all stream through - - Brilliant  :D
The picture shows my son on his FZ6 and me behind him on the box-eye.

Could not find any U-tube clips of this year, sure they will appear, but here is one of last years

FZS600 Fazer / Carb Balancing - Carbtune
« on: 23 April 2013, 11:59:43 am »
Recently I replaced my cam chain, after putting it all back together I tried to balance the carbs, I had borrowed a carbtune, all seemed to be going ok until I tweeked a screw the wrong way, the balance got worse, but the tick over went UP !!  :eek .  This made me suspicious of the gauges  ;)  swapping pipes 1 & 2 suddenly showed quite a diffence, so I ended up trying to balance this pair by looking for the same difference when swapping and unswapping the pipes. Spent ages trying to set up a half way house. Then repeated this for 3 & 4, then between 2 & 3,  I am sort of happy where I ended up  ;)

Since then I have got some T pieces and commoned them together, with the below result, here you can see 3cm of mercury difference between channels, the spec in Haynes is all to read within 1cm Hg.

So be warned, check your tool before using it   :lol

FZS600 Fazer / Got Committed
« on: 21 March 2013, 11:16:02 am »
Well couple of weeks ago fed-up with the racket it was making I started taking the bike apart and checked the cam chain tensioner and found it nearly at it's end, checked valve clearances, took cams out checked shims, ordered a new cam chain and couple of shims. I have put it off since, been too cold or windy blowing dust around (garage needs new door). But last night I got committed plenty of rags shoved down chain tunnel and this happened

Bit of help from my son, and we fed through the new chain attached to the old with copper wire. I borrowed a pro-motion style tool to split the chains, but it is designed for riveting hollow pins unlike the joining link I had  ;)   :rolleyes :'( , so my son held the chain against a block hammer and I used a flat ended punch at an angle and small hammer to peen over the pins, sorry no picture, all four hands were being used and a fair bit of concentration !  Worked a treat, measured up with a digital calliper, and happy with result  :D

Two new shims in, cam shafts back in and clamped down. Valve clearances checked, and cover back on

Will have it going again soon, few more small jobs to do while it's in bits  :rolleyes  but gettin there  :)
