General / Re: Exo2 heated vest connector
« on: 04 April 2020, 07:32:55 pm »
Thanks for looking Robbo.
I looked for a wiring diagram myself but to no avail.
I also looked for a diagram for the optional controller but no luck there either.
Hopefully, someone has a battery pack, charger, controller, etc and can check the output to let me know.
I already have a couple of connections to the battery for heated grips and a CTEK battery conditioner, so wanted to minimise the number of connections by splicing onto the CTEK cable and soldering a universal SAE connector, to which I can plug in an Exo2 conversion cable.
I guess if I don't get any luck regarding finsing out which polarity the connector is, I'll have to bite the bullet and get a dedicated Exo2 battery connector.

Looking at the connector in the vest pocket again, I think it's a male one, but I guess that doesn't really matter.
Just need to know if centre positive or centre negative.
Cheers all.

General / Exo2 heated vest connector
« on: 04 April 2020, 02:34:22 pm »
Hi Foccers
I have just inherited a really great Triumph branded Exo2 heated vest (cheers Paul/Ogri48) and am trying to wire a suitable connector to the mighty thou.
What I need to know is, is the female connector, in the left hand pocket of the vest, centre positive or centre negative?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers & regards,
Dave.

General / Re: So What're You Listening To Today?

I recently splashed out on an internet/DAB radio for home & office.
What a fantastic bit of kit.
I'm into thrash metal, punk, etc (sorry folks, I'm an old head-banger) and there are literally hundreds of dedicated stations available, for all genres, not just the ones I like.

I'm currently listening to a radio station called "Radio Caprice - Thrash Metal".
It's awesome - no adverts; just non-stop tunes  :guitar :thumbup

A guy is being interviewed about stuff relating to the current coronavirus outbreak, and the topic turns to self-isolation.
The interviewer asks "OK. You need to self-isolate for 14 days. Do you, A, self-isolate with your wife and 2 kids.." and the guy says "B"  :lol

Not a BMW fan but that is a really nice bike.
Best use, and look, with the boxer engine I think.

Yes folks, thanks for the suggestions.
I've registered with lost property at Great Western Railway and Transport For Wales, so got all my fingers crossed.
My driver's licence is in there too, so, if it did get lost elsewhere, there's the chance some kind-hearted person could post it to me.
Wouldn't it be great to have something nice happen in these troubled times???

No coffee, I paid for a couple of beers in a pub on the way home after the match.

Had a great day out yesterday when I went with a mate to watch Wealdstone play Chippenham in a National League South football match.
Unfortunately, lost my wallet, with what seems like my whole world inside, including approx £100 in cash, on the train coming home.
Bugger!!!  :thumbdown :wall :groan

Yesterday actually.
Took the mighty thou for MOT at a new place round the corner from where I have moved to - and what a find.
It's a little garage, MOT & servicing cars & bikes, run by two local guys, both of who ride bikes.
Really nice blokes, very helpful and told me they are more than happy to change bike tyres bought from the internet for £15 a pop.

Oh, and the Fazer passed with one advisory - "Rear suspension arm pin, bush or joint worn but not resulting in excessive movement".
He said that when he had it up on the centre stand, grabbed the swing arm and "wiggled" it, there was a tiny bit of movement.
He also went on to say that he thought that there the Fazer had quite a complicated multi-link setup so that was probably why!!

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Oil issue
« on: 05 February 2020, 10:17:18 am »
Fazer oil level sensors are known for being a bit temperamental, they either just stick or corrosion get in or on the contacts causing a short.  It's normally sorted by a simple clean up of the connectors, some need removal and a clean.  The latter is best done during an oil change, some do fail that said, I've never replaced one.

The sensor is really just early warning of low oil level and they're pretty sensitive 100ml ish from on to off.   The slight glass is the best way to check your oil level, best checked 5 mins after you've ridden it, half way is good.  Fazer are really good on oil a healthy engine should use almost nothing between changes.

Pull off the contractors, if there corroded clean them as best you can, both the wire end and on the sensor.  Reconnect if the light goes out bingo sorted, put some silicon grease on them and recover, job done, drain out the oil, if the oil is good/new or still a few 1000's to go be needing changing tip it back in 3/4 way up the sight glass.  Ride check 5mins after you've stopped.

I'd also not recommend starting sorted bikes every week, all your doing is encouraging moisture in the engine, which over time can start to emulsify the oil and it breaks down the oil faster.  In my opinion best way to store a bike, service the brakes, chain, levers, cables etc, pinch the fuel line and run the bike until it stops, hook up the Optimate (or similar) and leave it.  It will be fine like this for couple years, I kid you not.

Loving the long-term storage advice Gnasher - simple but effective
Many thanks  :thumbup
