Now its november, the days are getting colder and winter is approaching. I was taught at school that winter comes once a year because the earths trajectory around the sun isn't perfectly round, its slightly oval, so for a few months of the yearly orbit we are further away from the source of heat and thus cooler.

I know that the earth spins on its own axis once every 24 hrs to create day and night, and it orbits the sun once every 365 ish days to create a year, but how come australia has their winter in july and their summer in december??? Surley in December they are just as far away from the sun as we are (minus the diameter of the earth, which is fek all when considering these distances)?
how come the whole planet isnt colder when it is further from the sun and hotter when it is nearer?

Keep the receipt though. I seem to remember reading somewhere that this is the guarantee,  not like leatherman where they just replace it no quibble.

I remember having the same trouble years ago with a mk2 fiesta. The bugger just wouldnt budge so I hammered a screwdriver right through it and tried to twist it, but there wasnt enough room to get decent leverage, so I removed the screwdriver,  put on a pair of marigolds for grip, grabbed the filter as tight as I could and gave it an almighty twist in anger.....

gripping as tight as I could to a tin filter that I had just shredded with a screwdriver...

...it didnt end well :(

I quite like him on QI and HIGNFY. I saw on of his live standup shows once, funny as foc! Totally unplanned and ridiculous, kinda like a mix of Eddie Izards sense of randomness with Lee Evans sweaty nervous energy. Had me in stitches.

Not seen the new show though, the trailers put me off, looked a bit childish really.

Just more shit to go wrong, I learned that lesson the hard way by owning a buell... that thing had sensors everywhere... tilt sensors, o2 sensors, altitude sensors, snakes in the engine sensors.... all costs money in the end.

and as for anti-wheelie..... why in the name of all that is holy would anyone ever, ever, EVER want that?!!???!!

which fucktard invented that?

I still maintain satnavs are far more dangerous than phones. Both are dangerous to use when you should be concentrating on the road, but satnavs not only distract your concentration from the traffic like a phone, but they also make you unfocus your vision from the road, as well as creating a blind spot!

I will put my hands up and admit to using a phone in the past, not since they made it illegal, but I was perfectly capable of talking and driving at the same time, after all I have been talking all my life, doing it while driving is perfectly natural so why is it different if you are holding a small plastic box in your hand? What makes that any more dangerous than holding a cigarrette in your hand while talking? Or picking your nose?

Yes, I do believe that using phones while driving causes accidents. But only by people that shouldnt be driving in the first place. Ifyou cannot concentrate on the road while talking then you should not be driving in the first place. If they banned phones and eating while driving then why the hell havent they banned smoking while driving, or opperating a satnav??? Total double standards.

Satnavs are a killer.

stuck up there on the dash or windscreen, obstructing the view and causing the driver to focus off the road.

I honestly believe there is no difference whatsoever than having a bloody telly stuck to your dash. How the hell can they say that a phone is more distracting than a bloody video screen? With a phone it is held up to your ear, not in front of your face, you might only glance at it momentarily to answer it as opposed to squinting myopically at a satnav screen for ages trying to negotiate a series of roundabouts. As for actually holding a phone, well how many people do you know that honestly use both hands to hold the steering wheel?

Im not advocating phone use, far from it, but I believe satnavs are a far greater distraction. Using a phone is the equivalent of smoking a fag with one hand whilst talking to the passenger.

satnav screens should only work when the vehicle is stationary. When it is moving it should be audio ONLY!

In the old workshop where I used to make sheds we would regularly pop the fuses in plugs. We found that the number 4 pozi drive screw bjts that came free with every box of screws fitted into the fuseholders perfectly. Never popped one of those.  :rolleyes

Take out the rubber snorkel on the airbox, remove the wire mesh spark arrestor and drill a couple of big holes in the top of the box (dont worry, a new box is only a couple of quid), makes all the difference. The ejk is probably the best mod for this bike, about $100ish from crfs only. As stock they are severely choked up and need to breathe better.

(All mods done at your own risk etc etc, just cos im stupid enough to do it doesnt mean its right lol)

Sounds like fun :D

that one is definitely a dual-sport rather than a full on dirt bike. It uses the new cbr250 engine to keep the service intervals down. Every 6000 miles rather than every few hours like some dirt machines! Perfect for me really cos I use it to commute to work a lot, it gets used 80/20 tarmac/dirt. Stage 1 tuned so it goes well for a 250, but I have the 305cc big bore kit coming for it soon ;)

Just been out exploring on the bike for a few hours this afternoon.  Back roads to Thetford forest then dirt tracks (byways) through the heathland and woods, getting covered in mud and totally lost. Eventually found a road and headed back home through town, plastered in mud and grinning like a lunatic as I carved through all the people in tin cans doing the rush hour grind lol!

Sometimes, if you are really lucky you find a bike that you just 'gel' with, and I reckon I've found mine.... (and it isnt a fazer lol)
