Yes, each price quoted is per pair of the relevant parts.

Zero Limits have offered us a group buy discounted price of £99.99 for the fairing inserts and £60 for the airbox covers.  Price is per pair of parts.

I think that's a good price but I have let them know that some of our forum members are awaiting delivery on the orders they made some weeks ago and that the delay is causing concern to all here.  I've also pointed out that the members in question will be reporting back on quality and that this will be the clincher or deal-breaker.

Finally, I've asked how long it will take from placing the order to shipping the parts and how much deposit will be required up front.

OK, it's looking like about 8 - 10 at present subject to price and quality.

I'll keep you all posted on developments. :)

any helpful suggestions?

Yup, listen to Jacko.  ;)

The relationship between swingarm pivot and the sprockets is such that the Gen 1 needs a little more slack than DID say.  Their's is probably a generic figure rather than Gen 1-specific. :)

I advised the OP to use original bones to take advantage of the shorter R6 shock length.   The bike needs to be lowered but not by the ridiculous amount it is at present.

Forks will also be dropped through the yokes to compensate at the front.  May slightly compromise cornering clearance but right now the bike is configured like a chopper and steers like a bouncy castle bungee'd to a shopping trolley.  :)

There's a company on evilbay thats based in germany that sell all this stuff and has it in stock but! its more money this will be my 2nd option if zero mess me around

Is this the company, Dave?

If so, same photo as Luke's above.

I've noted everyone's experiences of Zero Limits so far and will see what they say if/when they get back to me.

Feedback on quality from those with parts ordered would be much appreciated.  And yes, if it's good enough for Dave, it's good enough for us all.  :lol

Check the carb needles, originals have no provision to change the needle height, hasn't got multiple slots for the 'E' clip.

Unfortunately that doesn't apply to UK/Euro Fazers, only to the US models which have a single e-clip groove mandated by federal law.

However, you can check the needle as Karlo suggested and if you find SD-129 or SD-130 stamped around the top of the needle, it's an original Yamaha part.

Ivan's needles have 5 e-clip grooves.  For 2004 model with 3mm nylon needle spacers, the e-clip should be on the 2nd groove from the top.  Ivan's needles also have a couple of visible variations in the taper, notably toward the last 15mm of the needle.

Another clue will be that the throttle slide spring will have been shortened.  You'll find in that case that one of the ends is bent over slightly whereas the uncut end will be finished in a complete circle.

I had a couple of owners ask me on my last 'Ivanising' visit about carbon fibre fairing insert panels.  With the standard plastic ones being prone to cracking, I wondered if anyone else might be interested in a group buy of these from Zero Limits.

I've e-mailed the company this morning to ask if they'd be willing to do a group order price, possibly to include the airbox side panels and the radiator side covers.

In the meantime, if you're interested, please register your name here so that I have some idea of the numbers when Zero Limits come back to me.

Cheers!

Hi Joe

Just got back from my latest jaunt with the toolkit.  Nice to hear that yours is running so well, too.  :)

I'm sure Justy will get in touch soon but if he doesn't, drop me a line and I'll contact him direct on your behalf.

Cheers!

Justy isn't a regular on this site.  Contact him via the other UK Fazer forum here:

The increased vibes with the ignition advancer come in high up the rev range.  There's no peak power gain worth speaking of but it does sharpen up the throttle response low down.  That's why a lot of us do the mod.  :)

This motor has no balancer shaft so there will always be secondary vibes.  Altering the TPS setting has the effect of moving the standard ignition advance map around a little which in turn shifts any midrange vibes up or down a bit.

If you can't dial out the vibes sufficiently by tweaking the TPS, see what happens if you go back to a stock advancer.

Mike (Falcon 269) is definitely the man for Ivanising. It was fun to watch him work.  :)

I never imagined 'Ivanising' could become a spectator event but if it kept you entertained then so much the better.  :lol

My thanks to all who wrote complimentary things about the outcome of my efforts but as I've always said, the real credit lies with the guy who created the kit and the various other mods that go into the Full Monty.

Cool.   If he's made it work then all credit to him.  I would love to see how it worked out. :)

Good luck fitting the 5PW headers on a Gen 1.  :)

The EXUP valve is totally different, too.

If your mate can get this to work, I'd love to see the photos.  However, I think maybe he's been mislead by some posts on the FZ1OA forum by folks who've fitted the titanium end can off the 5PW.

Alternator output, carb breather tubes (metal) and neutral indicator switch.

One on general knowledge next, please.   :)

Hi to everyone I met on my travels this weekend.  Got back on time last night, tired and relieved that the crazy schedule actually worked.  :D

As always, it's great to read positive feedback on the results of the 'Ivanising' jobs ... all credit goes to the man who came up with this great jet kit.

Big thanks to Keith, Karl, John, Paul and Gary for providing me somewhere to work and a special mention to Karl for sticking with me throughout a long working day at his place.  You should now be qualified to do the job yourself in future, mate. :lol

I'll get around to e-mailing those I promised additional info to over the next day or so.  Off to work first, though ...  :rolleyes

Cheers!

Red was only available in the 2001 line-up, IIRC.  So yes, 2001 model registered later. :)

Been a long time since I had one, but doesn't the needle do the 7k thing while the engine is running as well?

Yes, tacho reads actual revs for a few seconds, then the fault code, then zero, then back to actual revs.

Hi and welcome.  :)

I've got 5PW forks in mine but they have K-tech internals so my settings won't be of any use.

You don't say what weight you are but I'd always start any suspension set-up work by measuring and adjusting the sag.  If it's the springs that are too soft, you'll find out this way and will know for sure that new springs are required.

Assuming you can get the sag right with the springs you have, I'd start the process of damping adjustment by turning the compression dampers a half turn out from max and do the same with the rebound screws, too.

IIRC, the adjustment range for compression is from 0 (max) to 13 clicks out.  Rebound screws are similar.  Standard settings are something like 7 clicks out (comp) and 5-6 clicks for rebound.

Mike

PS.  Useful guide to suspension set-up here.

I keep looking at those little plasic plug things under the tail piece and thinking.........
maybe I can do something with them?? Stainless bolts or some such?

If you mean the press-in panel fixings, forget it.  There's not sufficient strength in the plastics for them to take any kind of pressure or load.

Hi and welcome.   :)

Look at the rear footrests and you'll see they've got castings in them to accept bungee hooks.
