Update.....just had first ride since fitting the risers, much improved comfort, I'll be keeping them but also I have had the seat altered by a local upholsterer, it was killing my arse, he cut away a portion of the riders section and replaced it with about 1" of softer foam, the blue stuff, best £45 I've spent, I also bought a Corbin seat which I have yet to try but I'm very happy with the altered seat, I was considering selling and getting a BMW but no longer.

They were fine, no issues fitting them, cut the cable ties, fitted risers, new cable ties, job done.

Can anyone recommend which bars to use for a more upright riding position ?, standard at present but I'd prefer slightly higher.

Many recommend Renthal 758 as an improvement on the Gen 1 Fazer 1000...can anyone advise ? are they lower or higher than standard ? Thank you.

2008 onwards, with the combined compression adjuster at the top (blue inner, gold outer). Avoid the 2006-07 version with two separate compression adjusters
Cheers

I've been looking for a more comfortable seat for ages so thought I'd try an Airhawk and it's wonderful, after much fiddling about I find it's best with very little air in it. I could only manage about 20 miles previously but last week did 100 with no discomfort....well worth a try just don't put too much air in.

I'd like to raise the bars a small amount, what's the best way, risers or different bars ? Renthall do several types but which bar will give a small raise ?

Just got back from a ride and noticed the clutch felt odd, pulling the lever it feels like a two stage trigger on a gun with a very definite change half way through the travel, it's not the lever as I pushed the lever on the clutch cover and the same can be felt, any ideas before I pull it to bits ? Value depends on the exact model, there's dozens of versions.

If they are the standard Fazer ones they just screw out but don't bother with the allen socket, mine has Torx, I wrapped a cloth around the bar end and used mole grips to unscrew it. Greg

On a similar vein to the insurance issues...we are with Scottish Power for gas & elec. and our elec meter recently went mad so my wife rang them to sort out the readings...after this was done she asked if they could offer us a better deal, less than two minutes later he comes back with, "how about £30 pm less ?".Why the f..k couldn't they do this in the first place ? moral of the tale..question every bill these days ,these people are doing as they please.
