I do this when the missus and i go away. i put warnings in place mind . the bolts i used have a .303 calibre cartridge case on the end using the flat as a tip, should give them a thud ! :evil

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Fazer owners meet new venue possibly
« on: 31 March 2012, 05:47:23 am »
Hi everyone

Being as i could'nt make the fazer meet last year at the brum bike shed.

I would like to invite any fazer rider to my fishery .

I run fisherwick lakes at whittington nr Lichfield in staffordshire. fisheries.co.uk/fisherwick

We offer the full angling experience and any non anglers or bikers are more than welcome.

I have a fishing lodge fully equipped overlooking our specimen carp lake, its very scenic and tranquill setting. the lodge has a cafe and ladies and gents toilets, and also a shop selling choc bars, cold pop etc.

there is a patio area at the back with ample bike parking and hard standing outside

The lakes 11 in total cover some 32 acres, so lots to see if you fancy a stroll round .

I can offer free tuition for visitors fancying a go at fly fishing while your there, and a substantial discount to foccers using our cafe.

im a qualified cook with a five star rating by environmental health .

Anyone wishing to come let me know i love to see bikes and this would make me happy as i dont get much time to ride myself.

Im not trying to plug myself or our fishery on here . just want to see you.

We are only 20 mins from Brum and  close to the famous basset pole bike meet.

Cheers all

Finally had enough time yesterday to uncover Fazzee as she is called by the wife after a long lay up. unconnected the optimate .

Thanks to Mike tinkering she started first touch of the button and purred like my cat Jetski.

as i backed her out the shed and over the ramp i got stuck in the doorway, i thought whats up. im sat onthe bike.

i then twigged what wasup, i hadnt took the centre stand off, no spring on see, as i take it off when riding and pop it on minus spring to work on the bike.

couldnt get the mrs as she was in the kitchen playing with the ferrets . i thought shit what do i do ? i cant backwards as the stand is stuck round the step. Anyway i pulled the clutch in selected first and tried to go forward .

I now have a rubber darkie on the freshly washed patio slabs and step. it was fun though and my bike is safe in the shed.

im pissed off with myself for not remembering to take the stand off before moving the bike. anyway in harm done

She aint seen it yet  :eek

« on: 30 March 2012, 04:39:42 am »
Nah nowt to worry about

mine did this the other day after not starting for 4 months !

I cranked the motor a bit no choke just to get some oil round before a whiff of choke, and then she fired with a puff and cough out the exhaust and airbox.

normal running occured within a minute or two . these bikes cant make their mind up if they need choke or not . worse still on standard jetting .

Get Mike to do a full monty and see the difference if you aint had it done, it starts so much better and warm morns like we are having you find no choke is needed.

the acts a bit like me when i get up in the morn after too many rollups ! cough cough and away !

Thanks Mike  :)

« on: 03 January 2012, 04:15:32 pm »
I found the same when i cleaned and regreased mine, defo tighten everything up on sidestand . For me this virtually eliminated lateral movement.

its also much easier spannering if you take the end can and linkpipe off, you get much better access to the nuts and bolts, you can see better for making sure you are square onto the thin nuts that are used on the dogbones.

pyramid carbon one on mine and yep poor fit , had to open up mounting holes on chainguard side, to give a bit of adjustment as would'nt sit central over tyre. Also found if you bend rear chainguard bracket in slightly you get a better fit.  ;)

05 fazer1000 first battery went within 2 years despite being optimated, replacement which is a Lintek been on ever since, still keep it on the optimate as i have a meta alarm . The bike has done less than 600miles in last 2 years . Starts first time every time touch wood.

I was somewhat peeved when i realised the bike had a lintek battery on despite the stealer charging me 69.99 for it in 07 and me assuming it was a Yuasa at that price. it was'nt until Mike removed it to do full monty a couple years later i saw what make it actually was. It looks like it is a better battery than the orginal or i've been lucky. :rolleyes

Hi all and happy new year to you

Been a while but not much time to ride or come on here.

well i was really keen to order the fairing inners, glad i waited to see what you guys reckoned, seems i made the right choice to hold back .:(

had a similar with Busters for a titanium top yoke nut , took 6 months to come ! and i only found out that it was made in spain and the back log from the spanish summer hols caused the delay . Why do these companies advertise items for sale , when they know full well it will take yonks to arrive? and why dont they say when its of stock or special order?

hope it all works out for those that have ordered.:)

only ask as my insurance company asked this year: 'any changes to the bike from when you last spoke to us?' i said no so they said 'in that case we can no longer insure you as there's a maximum of 3 modifcations policy now in force.' they lost my business from that moment.

I had that with quite a few companies this year. Finally went with H&R insurance who seemed quite happy with the 6 mods I have.

thats who im with :)

Nickodemon

I run Diablo's on my fazer, have done for 6 years onwership . Have run corsa 2 on front and rear and got . 3142 miles out the rear . front had plenty left .

bought a new pair of corsa 3 . fitted the rear and that lasted 2573 miles . the corsa 2 front i got 7010 miles and it still had a good 2mm left on it !

i now run a corsa 3 front and standard diablo rear this has done 1350 miles and is'nt showing any wear yet .

I like the idea of softest on the front and hardest of the diablo's on the rear . When i get chance to ride that is ! Mostly 2 up , with occassional blasts solo .

i cant say i've noticed lack of grip at the rear from the harder tyre . My bike is also full montied and i run a 46 tooth rear for more acceleration .

I buy my tyres from universal tyres online in pairs as they are cheaper than singles and know busters were doing a pair for less than £130 earlier this year .

all in all a great tyre for me

hope this helps:)

I changed mine for stainless dome nuts , got them from STAGONSET , they have a vast array of stainless fasteners , cheap and fast delivery . to ensure nuts didnt bottom out on tightening i used two stainless washers under each nut . hope this helps :)

they look loads better than the OE one's and protect the stus threads

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: chain adjustment interval
« on: 11 October 2011, 12:40:24 pm »
stick to the owners manual , going tighter than 40mm will lead to premature gearbox wear . the slack is there for a reason . the longer than usual swing arm means the fazer chain free play is needed when the suspension is compressed .

im sure Mike will be along to verify what i say :)

I already decided that i would go for these when a link to zero limits was posted on here . if you guys go for a group buy count me in ! :)
