Eleven years and 50k miles means time for a major service. Soup Dragon is away for a week so no time interference from management. ;)
Loving the bike lift. R6 shock replaced by Ohlins which had been away for new spring and refresh. Fork oil changed, valve clearances done and all the other major service interval items.
Cleaned and polished, ready for another 50k miles. :)

Foccin SHOWROOM mate. Looks fantastic.
-
Where's the best place to get the nice seats, is it a re-cover job?
-
thats excellent for 50,000 miles...a credit to you sir :)
-
Looking good Mike
-
She does scrub up well. :)
Seat is from CM Seats. Not cheap but the best I've had on the bike over the years.

On a car forum I frequent, some stupid berk said they would never buy a car off an enthusiast who has taken it apart countless times.
I know if Mike ever sold that bike there would be queue!!
-
When I had my first bike at 16 years of age ... back when God were a lad and beer cost a penny a pint ... the joke in our family was I used to take it apart to find out why it was still working :lol
I think I'm a bit better these days. Checking my records, it's been almost three years since I did an end-to-end overhaul in one go. Usually it's routine preventative stuff, ongoing so it's never really more than an hour or two at a time.
As for the queue, don't waste your time hoping - this one's the keeper of all keepers. :)
-
hats off guv'nor - hell of a job
-
Indeed, cracking condition that bike. - a credit to you :)
-
You guys are that far up his arse I've lost count the number of feet sticking out from the back of his trousers :lol
-
That's why I needed the comfy seat ... ;)

Hi mike
Have you repainted your engine?...it looks in superb condition for 50k road miles ...or have you a wonder cleaner ?
Bike sure is a credit , I remember you coming to BOTW back round 2002 on it .... :)
-
All original paint, Jon. That's what you get for taking the bike away from the UK's nasty wet, salty roads nearly 10 years ago. :)
Though not really noticeable, there's some bubbling on the cam cover but that's all. I'll get around to it next 50k service ... ;)

Looking good!
My old 2004 model's coming up for 100,000Km service, don't suppose you have a list/link to what needs doing please? We have only two Yam main dealers here in Thailand, Bkk & Chiang Mai (Cnx), Cnx did the 60,000km service for me 2yrs ago. Since then their lead foreman's left, returned with the bike last Xmas and told them to get on with the 100k one?
We live 700Km away from Cnx but commute regularly, popping back every month & another new excuse, obviously hadn't even started the job, sitting in the corner gathering dust! Lost my rag in April, dragged her back here to Udon Thani & went to Kawasaki a fortnight ago. Gave them the details, miladdo behind the desk says sure, no problem. Just had a call from them "We're unable to service Yamaha's, Kwak's only"???!!
Looks like I'll be getting my hands dirty after all :lol

Lucky man, there are some amazing roads over there!!
My retired in-laws live in Mazzaron, I go every year... one day ill take the bike :rolleyes

About an hour or so down the coast from me. Fantastic roads all over this part of Spain ... and largely unknown to UK bike 'tourists' because most stay around the Picos or head towards the Pyrenees.
Bring the bike sooner rather than later ... ;)
