I'll just leave this here, give us something other than the EU to debate. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153900617229005&id=589639004

Not that it would actually be used but if someone nicked my bike and the police couldn't stop them I'd give them permission to use a stinger regardless of the damage caused to the bike and if the rider who nicked it got killed at the time so be it.

From the Cheshire Police Force's manual (https://www.cheshire.police.uk/media/1573/stinger-vehicle-stopping-device.pdf)

Quote
‘STINGER’ is effective against most four or more wheeled vehicles however it should not be used against vehicles with less than four wheels, especially motorcycles, unless under extreme circumstances. In these circumstances the Force Pursuit procedure should be consulted in relation to pursuit criteria.

There is absolutely *NO* evidence that the Police were going to use that Stinger on bikes, however, given the attitudes of those "bikers", it was clear that they would have no interest in listening to any sort of explanation or engaging in reasonable discussion, so the Police Officers did the most sensible thing which was to leave the area to avoid an unnecessary confrontation.

The only thing I can work out from that video (not on facebook so no idea what else is on there) is that the bloke doing all the shouting is a wanker.

Cop intends to use stinger on bikes

I'm going to change this in my head to: "cop picks up stinger from floor.........and remains calm whilst a set of gob-shites mouth off"  Mainly because that's all I saw/heard.

Just remember it was only last year in North Wales that the police set up a stop and check road block and a female rider was killed.
I think she may even have been a forum member. So while they may not have intended to use the stinger, all plods do not think things through before setting up road blocks etc!

Sad as that story is Lew surely it's down to the rider looking ahead and their speed bring appropriate for the traffic conditions. If all bikers did that then we wouldn't be in the situation of stingers or radio waves stopping bikes.

True if we all behaved we would be a lot safer , I just tried to open that link but there is nothing there. If memory serves the police check was just over the brow of a hill. It was the positioning that was blamed for the accident and I think North Wales police got reprimanded over it.

Yep. Cop made a mistake bringing out the stinger and swiftly realised he was in the wrong. The Twat should have shut up long ago, he made his point, no need to go over the top. Also, I'm not particularly into maliciously maiming or murdering Criminals who happen to steal bikes.  :rolleyes
