Hello everyone,
I am after a speed sensor for my 2000 fazer, I am struggling to find anywhere online where I can buy them from. Does anyone have suggestions?
Many thanks in advance!

Seen one here, pricey though.

I think I might have one spare somewhere, if you're happy to have a 2nd hand one drop me a line and I'll dig it out.
-
If Fuzzy can't help drop me a line.

Cheers for this lads, i will be in touch accordingly!

Is it just the ceramic drive that's bust?
No. 15 on griff's 2nd link!

Spoke to Wallen this evening. Hope he doesn't mind me putting this out there on his behalf. Apparently the problem is that the tacho dies, ie drops to zero, when the revs get near the redline.
I'm somehow not convinced that the speedo drive is the problem, never heard of them going wrong and there seems so little that could go wrong with them. Sounds more like an issue with the tps to me... although I guess it's possible as I understand that they're part of the same circuit (hence the difficulty in swapping/upgrading the forks with the 6).
Anybody know more to help Wallen out?

Electrical gremlins?
Someone near him swap their clocks over?

TPS.
Is the bike running a tad ropey?

If the ceramic drive is bust inside (not spinning with the wheel) the tacho will drop to zero after revving over 10,000 rpm, and will then display an error code, but this would also be the same if there's something else on the speedo sensor unit broken, cheapest check is to whip the front wheel off and have a look!

The speedo is giving an error code, it should read zero and then give you a second reading, in order for us to know what the error code means we would have to know the second reading. If needed I have plenty of speedo sensors on the shelf as my business specialises in repairing and breaking Fazers and has done for years.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you to Fuzzy summing it up pretty well. The bike is currently in the garage and the ceramic is not broken, I have been advised by the mechanic that after looking at the bike, everything points towards the speed sensor. The speedo does not work atall and like mentioned by Fuzzy the rev reading dies when near the redline. The seems to be no running problems with the bike itself...(as far as im aware). When the rev reading dies i have to turn the ignition off then back on whilst going along which resets it and then works fine again.
Thank you for your help people!

Sorry about answering as OMF before.... my pesky wife left herself logged in.
OK in that case then the fault is def with the speed sensor, when it fails to recognise an input from the sensor the bike will shut the Tacho down until it is reset. Normally this is caused by the ceramic drive dog breaking up or the wire from the sensor being caught by the rotating brake disc.

Just to confirm, the speed sensor cable solved the problem. So if you do get funny readings from your speedo and rev count it may be worth looking at replacing the cable and not just the ceramic disk at the front wheel. Happy to have it sorted now though apart from the bill!!
Cheers
