FZS600 Fazer / Rear indicator replacement
« on: 10 May 2018, 11:23:21 pm »
Hey all, I recently bought a replacement rear indicator for my 2001 FZS600 as the insides of the previous one had rotted.
I put the new indicator on but noticed the shaft went all the through to the bulb head but kept turning as I tightened the bolt under the seat to hold it on so therefore the thing wasn’t tightening.

It looks like a really bad design on the new one.

Has anyone had similar problems and how did you get around it!!

FZS600 Fazer / Rear master cylinder seals
« on: 02 September 2017, 02:59:06 pm »
Hello!

I recently had to replace pistons and seals on my rear caliper as the rear brake completely failed.

While I was taking it all to pieces, I thought replace the brake line and seals in the master cylinder.

Brake line not a problem, seals in the master cylinder on the other hand are like rocking horse s..t!

I went into my local biker shop, they aren't listed unless you got to Yamaha which are 50 a set.

Anyone had a similar experience? Do they ever fail? Is that why they aren't around or common as others?

I am wondering if after stripping the plunger, etc out of the cylinder perhaps I should just rebuild it and hope a clean out was all it needed.

Thanks.

General / Action cams
« on: 28 October 2016, 06:41:30 pm »
I am looking for an action cam and I have narrowed it down to either a Contour Roam 3 or an iOn Air Pro 3, anyone used either of these or could they recommend something of a similar value (under £100 on Amazon) and preferably not a Go Pro!

Cheers!

General / Crap on roads

Yet again I am looking at another new rear for my 2001 FZS600 thanks to crap on the roads.

I had one replaced a month ago because some think ass tradesman doesn't have a toolbox in his tranny.

Getting a bit tired of this, is it cheaper to drive a 3 litre muscle car? Discuss.

FZS600 Fazer / Clanking noise
« on: 28 July 2016, 04:55:12 pm »
I aint a mechanic, as you are about to find out.

When my bike is idling, I can hear a clear clanking noise but as soon as it goes into gear before I pull off you can't hear it anymore.

Any ideas?

General / Glove and boot dryers
« on: 30 June 2016, 08:03:53 pm »
Anyone use a glove or boot dryer on those wet and wild days?

I have seen a few on Amazon and eBay but was wondering if anyone had and used one.

Thanks.

General / Rear indicators

Anyone got a recommendation where to buy new rear indicators? Mine are rusting inside and obviously letting water in.

General / RST Blade textile trousers 36 inch long sold out!
« on: 27 May 2016, 09:12:19 pm »
What? How come? I can get just about every other size apart from 36 inch long! Are most bikers 36?

I spent an hour or so last night on fleabay looking for such an item and found 1 in 7 pages!

I did have a pair of Tuzo textiles but having 2 inserts (1 for thermal the other for waterproof) just becomes more headwork than it needs to be.

General / My first dealing with Pinlock
« on: 27 May 2016, 06:40:05 pm »
After 15 years of riding and spitting inside my visor convinced that helped with demisting, I made a purchase.

I bought a Caberg Duke (I like Caberg) which comes with a Pinlock ready visor and Pinlock insert as standard.

Used the new helmet for the first time this morning during a session of heavy rain, no steaming up at all. I deliberately kept the visor down the whole journey.

What a difference that makes to a ride!

No idea why I hadn't gone for Pinlock before now, perhaps busy lifting my visor every 100 yards!

Get one, you won't be disappointed (perhaps some will!) but you know what I mean.

Introduction / Hello from Carmarthenshire

Literally bought my second hand 2001 FZS600 yesterday and was looking for some Fazer banter to learn about my bike.

Previously had a Thundercat and then went on to a Versys (getting old). The Versys put me off, excellent riding position and height but no nuts, which I knew when I bought it but was hoping it had some cashews under the bonnet but it was my first V Twin so spent the first 500 miles doing 54mph riding in the new engine hating every minute.

Silly purchase but I thought it was great at the time!

Anyway, that's me.
