BS kite on silencer question
« on: 10 March 2012, 07:14:08 pm »
If my old BS kite mark "fell off" my straight through Akrapovik, as they do you know, and I wanted to put one on to help at MOT or being stopped by police time replace it, where should the kite mark go?

Is it where the 'not for road use' was, ie under the little pipe at the back of the silencer, where the 'E' mark is on the OE pipe, ie on the inside, or doesn't it matter.

Thanks in advance

A pipe is legal if not stamped for "race use only" or "not for road use".

It will pass the MoT at the testers descretion if "not appreciably louder than standard".

Most pass at our shop.

Thanks Whale,

So as my not for road use fell off (it was very badly put on and took seconds with a dremel to remove), I don't need to etch a kite mark on it.

It's not too bad at low revs. Is the bike reved in a MOT? If so, what to?

Can you shove a baffle in it just to quieten it a little for the mot?

There's no actual sound 'test' on the mot (like you get at a track day) but you can be failed at the testers discretion if the exhaust takes the p*ss...

I get my bikes tested at a Harley dealer - largely because they're all deaf having worked on Harley's all their lives. I've no idea how Harley's get away with the noise they make...
Someone sent me a postcard picture of the earth. On the back it said, "Wish you were here."
