Ok, so my sons FZS600 has been sat around for far too long and as a result the carb jets are all blocked with lovely green varnish.
Soaking in carb cleaner doesn't seem to be working so I am trying to locate replacement jets but struggling to identify what each one is called. Last time I took a carb apart there were only two jets (idle and main) but fowlers seem to have several listed and the exploded diagrams do not seem to help much.
From their website I think the one with the yellow circle around is #14 (jet main # 115). This one is now clean and clear of varnish.
the purple circle is #7 (jet, pilot #12.5)
the orange one though I am struggling a bit with. I think it is #8 (jet, main 0.6)
This is where the trouble begins. I can find #115 and #12.5 on various sites selling jets but cannot find 0.6. Any suggestions?

get them ultrasonically cleaned that will remove everything

How much will that cost daviee?
so far I have managed to clean all of the main jets (yellow circle) and one of the pilot jets (purple circle) but the rest are all soaking in carb cleaner now. Will try again tomorrow evening if the varnish has softened enough.

From memory I think that 0.6 is a blank.

From memory I think that 0.6 is a blank.
That sort of makes sense as to why I cannot get it to clear and why the Yamaha service manual doesn't mention it. I will just order the pilot jets and see how it goes on that basis.

gonna do a compression test tomorrow as a problem has shown up and if all looks well then i might just have to take my carbs off for a but of adjustment
will try and remember to have a deeper look into the carbs for you - might be a video so i dont have to do a shit load of typing
-wish i had my own carb balancer i really should buy one at some point but cant justify the cost at the moment so will continue with a length of tube and my ears (cant wait till my dad goes deaf then i will be better than him at it lol)
-
ok this might be in bits and pieces but 0.6 is definatly a blank - just had two under the magnifying glass and torch and even used a camera to zoom right in (place a jet on a torch and if its blocked then no light)

Thanks DP. I have ordered some pilot jets and cleaned the main jets so all should be good by the weekend on that basis.

while your in that area you might aswell look at the water pipes that go into the carb - decided i was going bypass them anyway as i dont want warm fuel (F**K Emissions) but it turned out they were completely jammed full of corrosion crud anyhow so were doing bugger all which explains why water never came out of them when disconecting
found a great way to hold my tank up using two bungee cords which held the tank at full height and didnt have a piece of wood blocking the area i was working in
today has been a win (apart from forgeting to clear the pilot air holes as i got to obsessed with looking at the jets ahh well next time im in there i will get it done)

Does anyone have any reference numbers for the pilot jets on my 2003 FZS600. I think it may be VM22/210 #12.5 but not sure. And do they have 8 holes in them ? Most suppliers seem to say measure the originals, but I haven't taken them out yet. I am having the same problem with 2 blocked pilots. Can anyone reccomend a supplier - Fowlers are out of stock, Wemoto dont do them. Any ideas please. I'm taking my jets out at the weekend and I will soak them in cellulose thinners - but just in case !! Many thanks fellas !!

They run that coolant through the carbs to help prevent carb icing it's not done for emissions. You should clear the gunk out or you might have running problems when the weather gets a bit cooler. Here's a wiki article about it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carburetor_heat

These are the pilot jets I just received. According to various places you need the #12.5 ones. I will be fitting them tonight.
