Anybody else find putting the side stand down whilst sat on the bike awkward?I can't get my boot in between the footrest and stand,any useful mods/tips apprieciated as i'm a bit of a shortarse and getting off to flip the stand down will only end up with me pinned under the bugger before long!the bike is a gen 1 fazer1000.thanks

Never had that problem with standard pegs, only since I fitted the Gilles reasets.
It's not as bad to get the stand down with my waterproof boots but it's a right pain up the arse with racing boots. If I don't get it down first time I just lean down and pop it down with my hand. I to am shortarse in stature (5'7") but can do it without falling off or dropping the bike. So if you're shorter than me you're dissadvantaged.

Try bending out the peg you put your boot on.
Worked for me ;)

I kicked mine into gear once when I was breaking in new boots :lol

i have same problem but am just V careful with alpinestar boots on. it is a bit fiddly but just a knack to learn. if u think rubber tubing looks shit and i certainly do then take it to a bike garage and get them to weld a longer one or re-weld the original at a different angle. it will cost u MUCH less than the price of a drop.

thanks for your help,i'm wearing in new sidi vertigo boots which probably doesn't help,i'm walking in the style of douglas barder in the bloody things!i'll try the hose thing and see how that goes,ta

+1 on the Alpinestars, I must have kicked it into gear 5 times when the bike was new to me... now always hold the clutch as I do it in them boots.
My Frank Thomas ones are fine though.
Just take care with it, it'll become second nature soon.

Exactly the same for me. No problems with my Goretex all weather boots but a right pain when in my Sidi race style boots which have fin like appendages on the heel. An extension to the stand seems like the best solution. As stated a bit of stiff hose would do but look crap. A piece of black painted suitably sized steel tubing with a welded end might do the job and look better.

The hell of the boot is the answer. I also had a pair of boots that would not grip first time. You just have to be aware that the stand may not stay down on the first attempt. regards Mike. Have a safe and happy xmas.

Not a side stand problem but,,,,,,
I was on the Woolwich ferry a couple of days ago and I accidentally applied first gear instead of the back brake :o
