FZS600 Fazer / Re: clutch problems after a run out the back roads
« on: 13 April 2014, 08:39:31 pm »
why are you sticking washers on the end of the cable?????
all you have to do is adjust the clutch actuator at the end of the cable at the sprocket end.
its a simple 5 min job.

that rubber bung on the sprocket cover... ping that out, take a 12mm spanner.. I think that's the size...undo the nut a little...hold the nut with the snanner....now take a small flat blade screw driver the turn the center screw until you feel  resistance... back it off a tad.. hold the driver in place and tighten the nut up.
hey presto, all slack in the clutch gone, and plenty of adjustment at the clutch lever end.   :)

« on: 06 April 2014, 01:58:48 pm »
I want to take my cam end caps off to tidy them up.
do they have gaskets or  anything behind them that I will need to replace when I re fit them?

im bored, its raining and I have to mow the moss...but  I cant as its wet..if I stay indoors, er indoors will find me something to do.
so my plan is to hide in the garage.. :lol

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Chain and sprockets -- easy for a novice?

if you take it to your local bike shop, ask if they would let you watch so you can see how its done...and then ask lots of silly questions too...
that way, you maybe able to tackle simple tasks like servicing etc yourself in the future :)

FZS600 Fazer / no nuts
« on: 16 March 2014, 05:46:01 pm »
yep, its happened to me...no sprocket nut!
took the cover off just to check as ive only had the bike a couple of weeks...no nut, just the tab washer laying in the sprocket cover.. the thread is fine and so is the sprocket... the thread is dirty as though its been missing a while.
ive only done around 40 miles on it so far, and its the 1st chance ive had to check it...glad I did..

they  are recent chain and sprockets sets, so im guessing they either fitted the old nut or the 9mm one and not tight enough???

anyway, guess il be trotting off to a dealers tomorrow for a new one. :rolleyes

General / Re: what did you do with your fazer today ?
« on: 09 March 2014, 07:58:32 pm »
went for a spin to towcester...took my lad out for his first ever pillion ride....he had the biggest grin, and was even chuffed with the full English at the café.

bike is looking like a rat bike at the mo, as in fairingless...
spent the afternoon filling and sanding it in a limp attempt to repare the cracks in the fairing....that's now done so il have to find somebody who will do a cheap blow over on it.

could be the fuel in the tank has gone off.....have you added new fuel?
stick a slug of injector cleaner in with some fresh fuel and take it for a run to see if it clears.

FZS600 Fazer / Aint that bad?
« on: 01 March 2014, 06:59:20 pm »
just picked up my 600 fox eye.
after a 40 mile shake down ride home, all seems good, no real faults..it handles well goes pretty good for a 600.

so ive had a half arsed go with the polish when I got home, just to see how it would clean up.

it just needs a good clean :)

I have a list of jobs to do
the fairing is craked , so I will repair and paint that.
the tail  panels are a bit scratched so I will maybe look for some good used or paint them
the polished bits, foot rests etc need a good polish up again.
the gear linkage is very sloppy, I think the bush in the foot rest part is worn/ non existent...can the bush be replace or is it the whole thing?

other than that, im just looking forward to using it a lot.. :D

il be honest herew... I came from a gsx1400 through a zzr600 to here...I mioss the 1400, but too heavy for my aches.. :rolleyes

yeh, used to fettling..been having a poke around at pics of members bikes trying to gauge what I think works and what doesn't for me.
going to go down the polished rims route,  not sure about a belly pan yet? it would have to be black , as I don't think blue works for me... same with the hugger.
possible 25mm jack up at the back end?? anybody done this??    how does it affect the handling?

definatly need to get rid of the rear sail and get an under tray in blue..

colour change maybe...never ends does it.
one of the 1st things to sort is some damage to the nose fairing,

anybody know of a decent paint shop around mk northants area... and what kind of cost for a paint job on it?

hi,...46 going on 146...my knees are shot and my hip gives me jip too...the joys of being a heating engineer.
ive known about the headlights for years, just been reading the headlight upgrades.... brakes are the same for any bike really.
I been poking around and reading about the front sprocket issue, is it widespread?? or just a batch on build dates?
how well do they wear the miles then...smoking engines, oil consumption, rattles etc?

Introduction / hello
« on: 26 December 2013, 01:09:23 pm »
right, hi im steve and im getting old (46)
im looking at bying an early fazer600 to replace a zzr600.
I have a bit of biking history so im not a compleat numpty :rollin
in the past ive owner a bandit 600 and a gsx1400 as well as a few tiddlers and the kawakrappy that is going...too uncomfortable for my aches.
anyway the reason im he on this forum is to do my homework and find out the good and bad points of the 600.
I did ride one a few hundred miles, but that was around 12 years ago....I do recall it being a nice ride.
anyway, enough rambling...im going to poke about a bit,

cheers, steve.
