Title: Removing Tail Piece?
Post by: mickvp on 08 May 2015, 11:32:15 pm
Good evening foccers!

I have had a search and come up empty, so Im hoping one of you knowledgable foccers can help. I want to remove the tail unit & grab handles from my thou so I can have them resprayed/polished up. is there a guide on here to get the things off? I assume I need to take the undertray off first then work up from there?

Oh, and has anyone ever removed a datatag before? I have one of those on my tailpiece, came on the bike, but its mounted squint and it does my head in so I would rather remove it as I havent mentioned it on my insurance anyway)

Remove grab handles
Underneath pop the pin fastners
Single fixing on top
And wiggle should come free moving it rearward
Keep checking just in case I missed summat

what about these datatag efforts, is there anyway for me to remove them without mullering the paintwork (I would imagine not, as thats kinda the point of them?).

I dont have any certificates or anything for them, so they aint doing me any good and they are god awful looking.

Try  warming the sticker up with a hair drier, it might soften the glue up enough to peel it off. If it does come off use something like wd40 to remove any remaining glue then a bit of t-cut and polish.
