ticking on starting

hi all , my battery went about a month ago,  I have bought a new one, butt when I start the bike there is a ticking sound, is this normal,? I aint been out since December when I froze my butt off.

Do you mean when the ignition is on or when the bike is running??
 
if it's just when you turn on the ignition then that'll most likely be your fuel pump. It'll tick more than usual the first time if the bike has been sitting as the carbs will be empty as the fuel will have mostly evaporated.  ;)
