Probably the exup cycling
Mind you I spent about an hour and a bit searching the internet when I first got my Fazer, cos someone said to me that the Exup valve really needs stripping down and cleaning out and lubing each year, as I said an Hour and a bit later I found out that FZS does not have one.

Is the cycling a constant noise? This isn't like a servo sound on a dt125, like a constant crackling...

The OP says he has a FZS1000 and has been told that the noise he is hearing is most likely the EXUP cycling so your post is only going to confuse him and anyone else new who reads it. I assume you're talking about the FZS600 in which case you're on the wrong forum.
Did you sort the crackling noise out, coz mines doing it now, fzs 1000 2003. Ignition on, then it sounds like a relay clicking once, then the crackling sizzling noise starts until ignition is switched off. Sounds a bit like something arcing or shorting out, hope it's not.......
I disconnected my servo earlier as I also have the crackling noise, and it sure enough it stopped. Definitely not a healthy sound, I don't like it. Anyway if everyone reckons its normal then I'll leave it. One question, is the servo supposed to do a cycle every time the ignition is switched on? I've greased up the valve, checked the cables and that end is all good. I've oiled the cables at the servo end, but when I switch the ignition on nothing moves, just crackles??
Turn off the engine with the kill switch, now turn off the ignition.Turn on the ignition is the noise gone?If so it is the exup servo
