Powerbronze used to sell coloured headlight protectors, although as you say, illegal in the UK. I had an amber one for my Fireblade in the late 90’s early 2000’s, to use abroad. Sometimes there’d be as many as sixteen of us going down to the Bol d’Or, so by me riding at the back, the leader of the group knew we were all present if he could see the amber headlight. Worked a treat. ;)

Nothing very exciting. Had to use the Fazer to get to Wickes for a few items to finish off project “change all the doors in the house”, as my car isn’t ULEZ compliant. Started on the button after a few months slumber, but won’t make this a habit as cold water washing it, in case of any salt on the road, wasn’t that pleasant in the current temperatures.
How id you get the doors on the bike.
Very good :thumbup . Got the doors a while back when Howdens had an offer. I can get there with the car avoiding ULEZ cameras. However getting to Wickes is another matter. :thumbdown

Glad your op went well and has been successful. Do you have to take it easy using your left arm for a while, or is it full gas straight away?

On the bright side - I lost over a stone in weight  :rollin :rollin :rollin
Wow that is a serious weight loss :eek .  I’m sure you could achieve the same result a lot more pleasantly, albeit over a greater time period. :)

:rollin :rollin :rollin I'm considering writing a book "How to lose weight quickly and feel like shite"
(without illustration's I hasten to add  :lol :lol )
Spoke to my daughter yesterday. By the sound of it she had a similar illness last Thursday, on her day off as well. Lasted a couple of days, not nice at all.
Good luck with the book :thumbup . I’ll give it a miss and just try to have a strict diet this month, dig out my pushbike, might even ride it, and see what the scales say at the end of the month. :)

Wishing you all a Happy non-Religion Specific Winter Solstice Festival   :D
Let’s do it properly whilst we still can :eek ………Merry Christmas everyone. :lol

Not to be a fun sponge or anything - but after arriving at the eldest daughters on Christmas morning for a day or so's merriment, we discovered that her and hubby had "eaten" something from the local Chinese the night before and were in no fit state to perform the host duties. Rest of the gang weighed in and a quite day was had by all (even with 6 dogs in the house). However, things then began to unfold. Early hours of 27th, my missus went down with something nasty. It wasn't looking good as this kicked off her IBS. A day later I also succumbed to what we now think was Norovirus.
Merry F***ing Christmas - My Arse!  :moon

Oh my god what a nightmare :eek . What rotten luck. Hopefully you are all well on the mend now. Certainly a Christmas that you won’t forget, for all the wrong reasons. :(

BSB used to have one round at Assen until quite recently. Maybe the organisers have returned to that format, but chosen Spain for the opener as the weather should be more predictable. Hopefully Glen will be champ.
Totally agree with your comments on Casey and Marc. You can’t deny their talent, but are certainly down the list personality wise. There is excitement around most classes for the coming season, Marc on the Ducati, Toprak on the Beemer, Sam Lowes racing his brother and Guintoli on the Beemer in world endurance. Can’t wait, got my Le Mans tickets booked already.

Ahhh - see, I'm a luddite. Haven't followed any sort of motorcycle racing since VR retired.  :lol :lol :lol

Vale certainly put motorcycle racing on the map for thousands of people, and is sorely missed, as every now and then a character comes along and creates an interest for people in something they would not otherwise have been interested in, and to me, Vale was one of those people. :thumbup

Nice :thumbup Kenny Robert’s skunk paint job. Last time I checked, Gilles still do quality rear sets for the Gen 1 Fazer/FZ1. How high have you jacked the rear.

Hopefully Tommy will be used to the Irwin level of banter, as he’ll have Andrew in his ear this time on the Honda. So hope Glen wins it next season.

Hope your op goes well for you, and hopefully resolves the problem. Just have to drink right handed over the holiday. I shouldn’t think that will be too much trouble for a man of your calibre.
The only snag with having so much time off at Christmas and being rather vulnerable is……….them :eek (child alert, child alert). The very best of luck with that :lol

When the bullshit starts to fly at race meetings, my two favourite mythical corners that have been made up over the years are the Yukskay Sweep and the Klakenbocker Esses. It’s so very hard trying to keep a straight face when someone claims to have been flat out through the Sweep or the Esses one time on a track day :rollin :rollin :rollin

I once coined the expression "Talking biker bollocks" for those conversations between riders which tend to be a long list of anecdotes about good rides they've had and idiots they've encountered on the roads!  :lol
And some talk a load more of it than others :lol . When the bullshit starts flying, it’s time to go, or failing that, invent a few place names or events, and they’ll agree they’ve been there or attended the event. Priceless :) .

The longer you’ve been at this motorcycling game, the more experiences, good or bad, you’re bound to have. Meeting great people must be one of my top positives. :thumbup

Haha yes, tyre fitting companies. Don't get me started on that one.......
Seems there’s always a tyre fitting horror  :eek story in most bikers experiences, usually in their top three.

I must admit that despite other people’s horror stories, my experiences have been relatively ok with main dealers, with only a gouged rear hub after a chain and sprocket change at a Triumph dealer springing to mind. The wheel was exchanged without any fuss I hasten to add. My less favourable experiences have all been with tyre fitting companies in the 90’s, and have since had tyres fitted to loose wheels ever since.

Thanks :thumbup . A non Yamaha buddy ( Kawasaki) is always up for up for most of my jaunts, but I just put these rides out there in case anyone’s interested. This toy run sort of marks the end of another biking year, but The Dragon is only a few months away in Feb, which marks the beginning of another biking season. Got to keep riding  as long as I can, as will be devastated when the day comes that, for whatever reason, I can’t :'( .

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: valve clearances
« on: 13 November 2023, 08:07:38 am »
If your bike is a Gen 1, have a read through the FAQ’s for New and Prospective Owners, at the top of this page. Pretty certain the answer’s there.

I don’t know why I bother posting these events, as it’s only me that goes :lol . Anyhow, as usual the meeting point is Tankerton Rd car park CT5 2AS at 12 noon, leaving at 1pm for the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother hospital at Margate. There’s usually an on-site burger van for drinks and food. If you don’t want to bring a toy, which is a chore, cash donations can be made to authorised collectors in the car park. I’m happy to lead a morning ride to the event via a cafe, starting near the old Oakdene cafe, close to M25 and M26, but it would be an early start to get to the ride start venue by approx 12:30.
