parts catalogue and model numbers
« on: 16 November 2014, 09:26:38 pm »
so the parts catalog in the downloads section, refers to FZS600/(295DM-300E2)

a quick check on wikipedia (not sure how accurate this is) suggests models
  • 1998: 5DM1.
  • 1999: 5DM4.
  • 2000: 5DM7.
  • 2001: 5DMC for FZS600 and 5DMF for FZS600S.
  • 2002: 5RT1
so where does the "295DM-300E2" come from and how do the above model numbers relate - if at all - to the parts catalog?

A very high amount of parts are compatible on these bikes, hence the reason most breakers list them as 98-03.
It would be mainly fairings, tank, etc that would be different, although even tanks can be swapped over without too much fuss.

Quite. But not quite the answer sought.
Bit of background...  I asked because I had a bar off a guy on here which was off a fiz but was not the same as that which I removed.  The locating holes for switch gear were in different places. The 'serated' bits around the middle of the bars was in different locations.
This made me wonder and postulate that there are subtle differences across the model range and different part numbers... So what are the definitive list of varying parts and respective numbers

To be honest I doubt you'll ever get that answer in full on here.

Is '295DM-300E2' the part number for the actual catalogue itself I wonder?.

You're right, it's the catalogue production number!

The catalogue shows the fairing parts for the boxeye model only.I'm guessing that there must be other,revised/updated catalogues for the foxeye models.I have seen a different model code for 2002/3 elsewhere as well..5RT4.
