FZS600 / Re: HOW TO: Forks Seals, Bushes and Oil
« on: 27 May 2020, 11:51:54 am »
hi, thank you for the above tutorial, a fantastic resource for all. i followed it yesterday to replace my blown fork seals, FZS600 1999

there is something significant the tutorial does not mention which gave me a real headache for a few hours, im not sure it is due to the fact the one in the tutorial is a slightly newer foxeye model.

there is a small white plastic spring loaded tube called a spindle taper(alluded to by Jamieg285) which sits right at the bottom of the lower/outer of the fork, this has a habit of jamming into the inner/upper fork, if this happens you cannot refit all the internal parts as it becomes impossible to close the cap bolt.

you have to drop the spindle taper into the bottom/outer fork first and foremost, then to add the bottom damper retaining bolt you need drop the damper unit into the upper/outer fork and slowly lower it in without bottoming out and not catching the spindle taper, torque to required amount, you can then add all the spring/spacer etc before adding new oil and top cap.

as i mentioned you cannot let the let the inner/upper fork drop all the way down whilst fastening the bottom damper bolt as it will catch the spindle taper making assembly impossible, hope this helps.

any anti muslim/racist keyboard warrior please pm me, we can exchange details and setup a meet. i like to settle with low life bigots face to face, either that or dont bother spewing your vile filth on these internet forums, i am sure the forum moderators will not tolerate such behavior and if need be screenshots will be taken, ip addresses will be recorded and you will be reported. yes cyber racism/hate speech is a crime.

thought id follow up on this, i got round to fitting the renthal 756 high bars and everything was ok apart from the brake pipe which was a bit stretched, i ended up getting a longer one and fitted it, prefect now.

Cheers for that Info,  if I can get away with the 756 without messing with cables then sorted  if not like you said I'll pick up some standard bars from eBay.

Thanks,  I have got a hold of some renthal 756 bars which I'm going to fit and see how it goes,  hopefully  won't have to get longer cables.

FZS600 Fazer / Raised Handlebars advice

Hi all, i am new to the forum, i have just passed my mod2 and after a lot of reading decided to purchase a 1999 Fazer 600 as my first big bike. i done most of my training on a XJ600 Diversion.

The Fazer i have purchased is in brilliant condition and running order however the previous owner replaced the handlebars with Renthal 758 Ultra lows.

I much prefer a more upright riding position and would like to ask what the best remedy for this would be ? i have seen some Rental 756 highs which i can get hold of or i was thinking of adding some raisers to my current setup, or maybe something else? any advice welcome, thanks.
