Cheers Gents. :)
Had another go this evening with trying to clean out the ignition barrel. Not had much luck, now got the battery back on charge and praying that it stays dry tonight. Will have a try tomorrow morning, if no joy then it's back to the train with northern rail unfortunately. They really are the worst rail operator going- dreadful. I'm inclined to think it's water that's caused the problem somewhere as she was running sweet beforehand. Hey ho plenty to keep me busy at the weekend.

Cheers darrsi, worth a try. It was doing the backfiring thing but just not springing into  life. I've got to charge the battery anywahy so i'll give the barrel the once over to see if I can get her to start.

Ok so I got up this morning to go to work and the bike won't start!  :wall
Over the weekend and last night we've had rain, sleet and hailstones so I'm assuming water has got in somewhere. (The bike lives outside in my garden).
Electrics are working, the bike turns over strongly but doesn't kick into life. Tried with the kickstand up in case it's the switch.
Sprayed isopropyl alcohol on the plugs, up the leads and on the connector at the back of the coils, still not working!
Any Ideas on what to do next are welcome, I need to get the thing going as I've a big journey to do tomorrow!

I fitted some aftermarket seals on the blue spots a few years ago, they were sifam brand. I've had no problems so far, but I may have been lucky. I 'lapped' the ends of the pots with some fine wet and dry on a glass table and polished the journal surfaces with a bench mounted industrial buffer. Other than that I wouldn't recommend taking any abrasives to the pots as others have stated. If any of the pots are very badly pitted replace them. I had to replace the pot on the rear brake. I'm with everyone else fella, buy the very best you can afford and if in doubt seek the help of someone with hands on experience or your local bike mechanic.

You know, perversely Sharia law offers 3 options for this-

 1) Retribution, simply demanding the killer also be killed,  2) Receive Payment of blood money in liu of  demanding the death of the killer,  or 3) The family of the deceased may forgive the killer.

Putting the views of the victim or victims families first now there's something new!

Hi there's a list of interested parties somewhere on this forum, not sure how many are still active.
I remember the last guy to try and get a set made got quite a bit of interest on the  :faz   facebook site- it might be worth checking it out for the details.

Always felt that was a bit pointless too as it’s based on the number of posts which you can see anyway. And quite a few people have a total greatly inflated by contributions to the meritless "three word story" and "word association" threads.
A ranking based on the usefulness of posts would be a welcome addition, eg. a count of thumbs-up clicks… but that would probably involve a change of forum platform and a lot of expense.

Dude   :eek don't knock the three word story and word ass, they've been on the forum for years and are a great source of mirth to some of us!

There's plenty of worthless content on here- politics, music, jokes, rants and the odd bit of biker nostalgia. It's all gravy.

Yep. Sounds like the valve in the float bowl's stuck in the open position. Hopefully the tapping will sort it out and get you going otherwise it's carbs out i'm afraid. Either way, replace the fuel filter once you get it fixed.

MY AGV K3 is just over 4 years old and still going strong. the padding on the underside is a little worn but it's still a decent lid.
I've also got a cheap Frank Thomas flip front helmet, it's a noisy foccer, but useful as a spare. I've never really got to grips with flip fronts.
