For anybody that might need one in the future this will give you another option to add to the list. As well as lots of Suzuki's and other Yamaha's that have the same TPS. I found that the TPS of a XT660X 2004 also fits. Just remember to take the little rubber seal off the shaft on the sensor. New one reads as per the manual.

My TPS is starting to play up. I have checked it iaw the Manual and the overall resistance is out of limits at 7.5K Ohms and when I set it up to 5000 on the Rev Counter (Diagnostic Test) then put a meter between the centre (Yellow) and upper (Blue and Black) and turn the throttle the readings jump all over the place (Manual says should go from 0 to 5000 ohms) Even if I just have the leads fitted and don't touch the throttle and tap the side of the TPS the reading jumps about. I've seen one in a Breakers for £38. But hoping somebody might have a spare lying around. Cheers John S

Did you get a test ride of the CBF. I had a CBF1000A for 6 months. I couldn't get on with the handlebar buzzing. They reckon it came from the fairing. Tried draught excluder in all the joints but could not get it down to an acceptable level so it had to go.

I'm looking for another Foxeye. Saw this one advertised as Excellent Condition. As it was 150 miles from me I asked for some close up pictures. Just as well. His idea of Excellent Condition and mine are somewhat different. The surface paint flaking might only be superficial, but the advert is deceiving.

It's really weird how this effects some bikes and not others. I have a 03 Foxeye which only has 4000 miles on it. I never had any issues with vibes or rattles in that area. But I thought I'd better check it out after all the reports on here. Well for the sake of a few quid I thought I'd have the 12mm replacement to hand.
When I removed the cover, the nut was the original 9mm with no signs of any movement. Decided to change it anyway and Lo and Behold I needed assistance and a 3 foot breaker bar to crack the old nut off.
New one fitted and torqued up to 70 Nm, didn't realise the new 12mm needs 90Nm, Thanks for that info Buzz. I'll go back and redo that.

Thanks Savvy Further to my previous post. I've sourced a modified nut kit at Wemoto. Can anybody tell me the difference between the JT sprocket and the Sunstar Sprocket (twice the price) on there website http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/fzs_600_fazer_sp/02-03/Sprockets are at the bottom of the page

Hi CRH
Going to check my front nut this week. If it is the 9mm one I'm going to replace it for the 12mm one. While I'm at it, thinking about going for the +1 Tooth sprocket (16T) on the front. How does it effect chain adjustment length?

I know it's been done to death. But on the Shetland rideout with Chris last Sun, normal cruising speed was fine. But on the home run I was up at slightly illegal speeds for 1/2 hour and the wind noise was quite annoying. I have a DB screen on at the moment. Some of it is probably my HJC HQ-1 helmet. Has anybody got the MRA screen below fitted. Secondly does anyone have one in there shed/garage I can borrow to try. Bit expensive to buy and find it doesn't make a noticeable difference. http://www.bikehps.com/acatalog/Yamaha_FZS600_FZS600S_Fazer_2002-2003_MRA_Adjustable_Motorcycle_Touring_Screens.html

I've got a DB on my 03 Foxeye. I get no buffeting at all, but it is quite noisy at high speeds. I put some of that down to my HJC helmet.

Thanks for the invite to the run Chris. Really enjoyed it. Some lovely scenery in Shetland when the sun shines. Hope to do it again soon. Think the Red one is nicer

Just a general observation for anybody chasing a misfire or stutter. During my investigation I cleaned my carbs, replaced my plugs, replaced fuel filter, cut back my ignition leads did a carb balance none of which did anything. My symptoms only came to light after riding the bike hard for a few miles and then she would misfire on hard throttle at low revs. I would recommend anybody who has a misfire symptom to replace the plug caps. You can get 4 NGK replacements for less than a tenner. Another possible red herring symptom is a rough idle. I have a K+N filter and a Beowolf end can with baffle in. Even after doing all of the above my bike still doesn't idle smoothly but rides great so I'm not worrying about it.
How can you have "hard throttle at low revs"
Maybe I didn't explain it right. After riding hard for a few miles, if I had to slow down then open up the throttle (low revs, high gear) at anything more than about 1/2 an inch then the bike would stutter/misfire. If I eased the throttle extremely gently then I could get the engine to pick normally. You can pull the throttle around hard at any revs. The gear your in will decide how fast the engine picks up.

Best of luck with your recovery Blade. Had an off myself a few years back when a dumper truck pulled out in front of me. Still have no recollection of going over the bars. First memory was sliding along on my face and knees. Thankfully had a full face helmet on.

I had this issue a little while back. When I got my new battery there was a slip of paper in the box and I was amazed that as little as 0.5 volt down (offload) after a full charge then letting it settle for an hour or so before taking a reading means the battery is only at 50% capacity. I now use an Optimate and when I come home after two weeks I don't have any issues with starting. It does a battery no favours constantly letting it discharge to a low voltage and charging it back up again. One word of warning. Do not go for a constant charger, this will boil your battery dry and buckle the plates ruining your battery.

Manage to set at 5000 revs. And once I found where ever thing else was manage to set carbs. The long reach screwdriver from Tool station helped make the job so much earlier. Luckily I was not changing myself at a hourly rate. Next time should be a breeze. Thanks again for all the help
Hi Steve could you give me details of the screwdriver you bought. When I did my balance recently I struggled to adjust the RH screw as the shaft of my screwdriver was a bit thick

More tips. If you do remove the disc, the bolts normally have threadlock on them. Tywrap the brake lever and crack the disc bolts. Use a breaker bar to give you leverage. If they don't look like they want to move don't force it. Try tightening them first that will sometimes break the lock. I had to replace the front disc on my Triumph Scrambler. When I pressed the lever I could feel it pulsing. Triumph discs are made of chocolate.

Soapy if you take a look at my recent thread about cleaning my chain you'll see a pic with my uprated nut fitted, notice it is pretty much flush with the shaft rather than lots of shaft threads showing with the original nut.
