MT Models / Another one on a modern Fazer
« on: 18 June 2023, 07:09:42 pm »
I have finally gone and got one. 2016 MT09 Tracer. Needs a bit of a clean and one or two minor things fixing but it was a bargain and had to be had.

I nearly went for this one though. 2017 with just 500 mile son the clock!

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZS1000 Black engines
« on: 14 June 2023, 08:20:48 pm »
I have been looking at a few FZS1000 online and not sure if this is normal or not. Some of the ones with black engine cases appear to have silver or grey cylinders. Is this right or should i be wary?

General / Which Fazer is the best and why?
« on: 11 June 2023, 08:56:02 pm »
So, we are all here because of the Yamaha Fazer but which one is the best?

I have had several FZS600 and regret selling my first one but have also ridden the FZ1. The FZ1 didn't do anything for me. It just felt big and cumbersome. It was quick but was not the bike for me. I have sat on the FZ6 and the FZS1000 but never ridden them.

So which ones have you ridden, which was the better one and why?

General / never ending inflation madness
« on: 22 June 2022, 12:39:43 pm »
My brain is hurting trying to think of a way out of this.

1. oil output restricted so oil prices rise to make sure you are at the front of the queue to buy it
2. oil prices rise - oil companies make more money and tax man takes more tax
3. Joe public and all other companies end up paying more for oil products (oil/gas/plastic etc)
4. Companies have to put up prices to cover costs - not making more money apart from the tax man
5. Joe public pays more for the products - need more pay to cover this and pay more tax
6. Banks put up interest rates to try to reduce the amount of cash we have to stop us spending

7. Companies have to put up prices to cover costs - not making more money apart from the tax man

8. Joe public pays more for the products - need more pay to cover this and pay more tax
9. Banks put up interest rates to try to reduce the amount of cash we have to stop us spending
etc etc etc

The only ones making money out of this are the oil companies and the tax man really - banks making more are a side issue as when they put up the loan rates they generally put up the savings rates too (not that I have savings but some of you lucky feccers do)

The only way out of this I can see is for the UK government to find a way to make North Sea oil and gas the main supplier for the UK, restrict prices on domestic use and remove imports as much as possible and ban exports if they cannot supply the domestic market with what's left. Oil companies will hate this as they will make less money. The government will hate it as it reduces tax income.

We are screwed unless someone can work out another way to stop the never ending madness

Always found her amusing. A friend of mine was driven round the ring in her van (taxi/minibus) several years ago and was suprised at how fast she could make it go and what she was overtaking in a bog standard "van"

« on: 14 January 2021, 09:38:37 am »
Be warned - both HID and LED bulbs are now an MOT failure

Updates - MOT inspection manual: motorcycles - Guidance - GOV.UK

changed from 'Some motorcycles may be fitted with high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps. Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with HID bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp.' to 'Some motorcycles may be fitted with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) headlamps. Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with HID or LED bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp.

FZS600 Fazer / Compression adjusters
« on: 09 December 2020, 06:05:59 pm »
My FZS600 predates the addition of the shorter spacers and compression adjusters on the forks, but as I am in the process of rebuilding the front end I an toying with adding some bling. What are your thoughts on these?
