however after 30 mins of trying to get the switches back together into the housing in really struggling.

has anyone got any good tips on how to re assemble it???

Don't take it apart.... Sorry!

I found it a nightmare in my cozy garage, patience and more patience was the key. Good luck!

Yep I agree, Don't TAKE it apart!!!
It's together again now but took an extra pair of hands and some fine tweezers plus the patience of a saint.
If anyone has issues I suggest you open the cluster and spray with  contact cleaner, work all the switches repeat and finish with a spray of wd40.
I do not recommend  getting to the contacts(especially oif you need the bike in a few hours!)
