fz1s gen 2 suspension play
« on: 07 November 2014, 12:38:34 pm »
hi guys,  i have just replaced the suspension bearings on the linkage arm & the bearing under the swing arm. also replaced the nuts & bolts and linkage plates while i was at it.  I notice if u lean over the seat and grab the swing arm it lifts slightly. is this normal to have this play before the shock works ?  cheers ally.

Yep, perfectly normal.

It shocked the hell out me when I first did it. There should be a couple of mm of play at the wheel spindle, don't know what the high end tolerances are though.
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

My gen 1 doesn't have any play but I had a FJ1200 that did even with new bearings, the lower shock bearing is of a different design to the gen 1 so that may explain things.
