Moby phone time again
« on: 25 January 2013, 03:16:22 pm »
So that is now coming on 2 years since I got the desire.

Long term? Not amazing, but overall decent. Not sure ill be back to HTC in a hurry.

So next.

Galaxy Note II

Reasoning:
Big SAMOLED screen (for smut, of course), quad core, 2g RAM, BELLS....WHISTLES.....

But mainly, the stylus. It will be handy for work, as I'd rather carry that around than a folder when carrying out inspections. Just load up the form and write down there and then.
Tidier desk etc etc.

Does anyone have one then?
What's it like in practice?
Smell ones mother. Yaas!

I used to work for The Carphone Warehouse and the higher tier Samsung handsets typically sold well and were of a good build quality - the cheap ones were usually sliders and the flexi always went on those :P

I currently have a Galaxy S2 and previously had a Galaxy S - both very nice handset and my house mate has a Galaxy S3 which is a natural extension but with more hardware functionality. The Note is essentially a larger screened version of the Galaxy series in terms of usability and the original came highly recommended by my colleague who bought one after buying my original Galaxy S :)

word of warning Ramy, with the Note to your ear you'll look like wee Davy does with a regular sized phone.

I went from a Desire to a Galaxy II - it's a great phone. Much more responsive operation than the HTC, decent battery life and even makes phone calls :)

Any bigger and it wouldn't be pocket sized and I'd look like a knob using it, but I guess image isn't an issue for you :lol

Can't say anything about a comparison, but the one x does everything that modern tech can privide. Not sure about 4G, but I think that's quite a way off being commonplace yet (someone will prove me wrong)

And the one x has a big HD screen, unlike the ip5!  :D

I bought myself a Google Nexus 4 form google play £279, most of the specs are better than the S111 (no AMOLED Screen though). Its a cracking bit of kit for the price, gets a good write up and sells out so there is a 4-5 week wait (or there was).

"So that is now coming on 2 years since I got the desire"

Yeah, you and my wife.
I can put three hundred letters in here? Really?  I can dump this much crap at the bottom of each and every post and reply that I do, and there not a stinking thing  you can do about it.  I can also put in a picture you say?  My my, aren’t we generous with the space all of a sudden.  This won’t last

Ok then you lovely buggers.

This phone is superb. Its so good that a pal o mine who had iphone since it came out has switched and loves it also.

Great screen with hreat qaility amd feel. Its also visible in sunlight.

Fast web and intuitive typing amd layout. Fully (almost) customisable home screen.
Bundles of apps.
I haven't tpuched my laptop in weeks. Baely since I got phone. Need a bluetooth keyboard and hdmi so I can put it through tv. I cam download and stream shows thanks to finding a flash version on a site.

Its fuckin amazin and I highly recommend it. The battery is immense compared to the desire. I've ran out of juice a couple of times but that will happen. I had to buy extra batteries for the desire(2 of which were left on the table in a club when boozing with sir slag of the beer)
That wont be a problem with this and I'm on it all the time. There is no coincidence with the major fires happening in paisley and surrounding area and my getting this phone

9 out of 10

Its not a 10 necause the "back soft key should have been a real button. It too often skips back when leaning on acreen using s pen and too easy to hit it just moving around the phone

Smell ones mother. Yaas!

Guy at work has a Tab 2 and really likes it :)  The higher spec Samsungs do tend to be very good and I'd be considering one myself if I weren't such a pikey.

They've not even been out 3 years yet  :look :nana

I have one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004TJC1IM/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for my S3 which means you can plug a standard keyboard/mouse/hub/HDD in.  Not bad for 50p

If you have an Xbox360 and/or Samsung TV a little icon appears in loads of apps and when pressed it will just appear on the TV streamed over wireless.  I watch 1080p videos, listen to music and display photos on my TV via the xbox360 by tapping a single button.

It's pretty cool.

I have the S3 and xbox360, what does the xbox need to stream direct from the phone?
I thought I was tech savy but im missing a trick here. Cheers

With the xbox on and both devices connected to the same network (my xbox360 is connected to a gigabit switch and the S3 to an apple airport express) you start up the gallery, video player or music player and select the red ringed icon as shown in the screen shots (no critique on the music cos frankly I couldn't give less of a sh1t wot any of you think).

It just starts streaming and jobs a goodun.
