R1 exhaust on gen 1 fazer 1000

have seen it asked before, does a slip on and link pipe from an early r1 fit the thou?  seen an akra locally at mucho cheapness

Not without a bit of persuasion...


I got an Akra silencer + link from a 2000 model R1 and had to cut + weld the link pipe to get it to fit.  The link pipe on mine is titanium and couldn't really be bent, maybe a steel one could be but I remember the piece removed was fairly large, maybe 2 inch on the longest side.

The R1 link pipe doesn't have a stop for the center stand, one had to be welded on (fashioned from the section that was cut out of the link pipe).  The R1 also uses springs to fix the link pipe to the collector rather than a clamp, had to put a spring loop on the collector too.


apart from that it slipped straight on....
