Citroën DS3
« on: 08 January 2014, 08:28:33 am »
My wife wants one. Its a funky little thing and seems well put together and the Diesel does nearly 80mpg combined. Does anyone have one and what do they think of it?

Just a random picture found on Google I'm afraid.  I had 6 assorted ID and DS Citroens back in the late 70's and early 80's but none looked as nice as that one.  Absolutely wonderful things but they rotted away while you looked at them.  All the outer panels bolted on (in fact, you had to undo the single bolt that held the rear wing on to change a wheel!) so you could replace those, if you could find any that were in better nick than the ones you had, but the underbody rotted just as badly.  Brilliant engineering design but crap construction.  When they announced a 'new' DS, I was expecting something equally as outrageous but all we got was a funky sort of hatchback.  It's had some very good reviews though and is probably no worse that any other recent designed motor.

If you mean Citroen, no, if you mean DS, it comes from déesse, French for Goddess.  The DS was originally called the ID which was from the French idée, or idea.

and Citroen comes from Andre Citroen, the man that formed the company while the double chevron logo comes from the Herringbone or Double Helical Bevel gears which he patented in 1919.

Personally I'd tell her to go for it, doesn't matter what its like, but if she's got a new car then you can have another bike........
