Hi guys, I just realised that i never posted what I found. I took the block connectors apart and cleaned them, both behind the screen and under the fairing trim panel. at the same time I found that the earth connection to the battery was slightly loose so I tightened it. I don't know which of these was the culprit but all has been fine since Cheers John

Thanks guys, I'll check the main plug, the battery is only a few months old and the bike starts easily.

I was out on my Gen 1 yesterday and my speedo and rev counter kept cutting out. Also the oil, fuel and overheating lights flashed on briefly a few times.
Any ideas what's going on?
Thanks

Now that the weather is a bit chillier I'd like to fit hand guards to my Gen 1 to reduce windchill. Suggestions please. Thanks in advance. Cheers John

Hey john are you related to Eric? No, I have a copy of his "Acoustic Guitar Bible" though.
Yes he is missed.

I go down to Bordeaux every June for a weekend, 750 miles door to door avoiding motorways once I get off the chunnel. I used to do it in a day but I'm starting to feel my age. A couple of years ago I was so knackered I was first to leave the bar on the Friday night, not good. I now take 2 days, stopping in a different place each time. I enjoy the ride more and get to see more. Cheers John

In a similar vein, before I retired from full time wok I'd struggle in if I was sick then take the day off when I was well enough to enjoy it Cheers John

Hi guys,
I'm off to France for a few days next week. Is it better to fill up before the Chunnell or wait till the other side?
TIA.

First rule of taking a pillion, you are carrying precious cargo. You are totally responsible for someone elses life.
Lots of good advice in the posts above.
I hope you both really enjoy it.

On the subject of alarms, does anyone know how to remove a Datatool Stealth from a '96 VFR750?
Grateful thanks in advance.

Hi Graham,
I've been thinking along the same lines. If i can find a cheap pannier or top box (possibly damaged) I might be able to fix the back of it to my guitar case.

Does anyone have any sensible suggestions for carrying a guitar on a bike? Both mine have hard luggage. I can carry it on my back in a gig bag for up to 10 miles although I'm always aware of the damage it could cause to my spine if I came off. It's OK as long as i don't do much more than 60 mph otherwise wind pressure tries to pull me off the back.
TIA.
Cheers

Have you thought of the last of the VFR750's. I'm on my 2nd one having run the first into the ground with lots of miles. I like it just as much as my Fazer 1000. I can get on it knowing that it'll get me where I'm going, we did 4K miles round France & Spain last year. It has carbs rather that injection so it's easy to work on. Just make sure it has a stainless exhaust as they're a pig to change. They were made at a time when Honda build quality was great and their owners tend to look after them.
Cheers
