I love it Noggy and it will be a beaut when finished - keep us updated fella.

Might be a silly question but can you buy them stock with jacked up suspension and is it 4x4?

It's a proper job 4x4, switches on the dash for the diff's.  Merc shipped them off to a company called Oberaigner and they fitted them out....I think the cheapest set up would have been about 25k on top of the original van cost....haven't heard of any of the non 4x4's being jacked up although in theory you should be able to get all the parts but because they are so rare they are gonna be brand spanking mega bucks to get hold of.

VW do 4x4 versions of their small vans too but I think they are also mega money.

It is a major project and I wouldn't have forked out the money that I've spent on bodywork and spraying if it hadn't have been the 4x4 version, at least it has some prestige and so I should always make my money back. the body's on Sprinters are terrible for rust it is everywhere and even after all of the work I fully anticipate further touch ups over the years....chassis is rock solid though and the underside is now all done in chassis armour paint too.

And by the way.....not fulling giving up on squeezing a bike in the back of it.....might just get one in there if I'm crafty enough with the interior design but it'll still be behind the bulkhead and at an angle.....how much of an angle is the issue and whether the front wheel will then be blocked by the furniture...maybe utilise a centre stand dolley type thing......im not giving up all hope anyway just yet.....my kayak is too long to fit inside but to get a bike in there even if just to take for its mot in winter or whatever would be a major advantage.

You still dreaming frosties?

I had a dave cooper trailer, collapsible one which i towed the boxeye on with my little 3 cylinder skoda fabia.....anyway i know you dont want a trailer but i didnt use mine much, was galvanised, mainly sat in the shed or under the lean to.......rust was coming through when i flogged it.

Ive got my sprinter now (medium wheelbase) & i was dreaming about a bike in the back widthways behind the bulkhead but its surprising how long bikes actually are i couldnt even fit the chopped trx in that way.

Its nuts how heavy that light bikes suddenly seem when trying to get them on trailers and up ramps etc and then strapping them down is a pain in the tits also and then you are always in the mirrors worrying its about to fall off it totally spoils the fun.

I dunno....im with you with the dream but i think the reality is that its a pita and spoils any dreamt fun.

It has a low thermal fingerprint lads which i hear is good for.........staying warm

Just gotta get the polythene layer sorted out so the spatters dont stay on the walls....from my pot noodle juice, always put too much water in :lol

She'll be some machine when shes finished, worthy of these pages i reckon, something different. Got a few windows to go in, massive rear step is at the powder coaters & theyre also sorting out a spare wheel mechanism that folds down.

Hi noggy . That looks tidy , are they 'itchiban moto bad ass ' wheels you got fitted there ?      :pokefun     :lol

:lol ......not style over substance this time Red, genuine 4x4 this one so she is........for when i'm 4x4'ing my way through the caravan club campsite......i draw the line at fitting a snorkel, she isnt getting one of those. Still to get the bumpers done in black and theres a heavy duty rear step to be shot blasted, painted & fitted, wind deflectors too for the cab & a sliding side window. Then Theres the interior to do.

Well I've sold my TRX..........needed work, no mot, no money,  no time........officially next week i'll be bikeless for the first time :(

Be focusing on my Overland camper project over the winter & the shed space will be handy for all of the build supplies. Be getting another bike as soon as that is all finished with.

Probably be an original MT09 though. Should be in my price range by then.

Happy new year foccers far and wide 8)

Well here is the base van....already had a foc load of work done to it just to get to this stage. getting ready to fit it out now. 8)

Always onward and forward Noggy, hope the new project works out well,, lets see what you are planning

I had disc in my lower back mostly taken out about 6 years ago & I've found that walking every day is the key to being pain free. I generally have zero pain and only the odd twinge now & again to remind me of it. Getting a dog was the best thing for me as it has had me out walking over the years come rain or shine. To prove that it is the walking I have lately been so busy with overtime and family stuff that I've been missing the walks and right enough the pain has increased.

Have they told you things that may make it worse though I wonder....some excercises may be good at strengthening the muscles but at the same time also put allot of pressure on the area.

Just having a foc-u mooch

a bit late on here but I heard ages ago that there is an optimal screen size depending on how close to the screen you are.

don't quote me on it but according to the net I believe it is 1.6 x the diagonal measurement of the screen, TV sizes are measured on the diagonal........so if you have a 32 inch screen then the optimal distance to be sitting is - 51.2 inches...or 1.3 metres.

Moral of the story being that if you are in a small bedroom & then pack a mahoosive TV in it and you end up being closer to the TV than 1.6 times the diagonal then it is a complete waste of money...you wont see it as well as you should & you'll probably burn your eyes out.

Top result Ogri....looks like you got a good'ne mate 8)

& now Mr Crisp is selling one of thee best UK road bikes because his is so good.

I've gotta be honest....i'm just not enthralled by the looks of the Gen 1. Yet to still hear so much praise for these old beasts means that they must be the real deal.

I'm looking at one of those VTEC VFR's next year....they look comfy, sporty ish & i want to try out Honda quality....plus they look exotic & sound nice & ive yet to try a V4.

Unless they are the perfect bike & i end up keeping one for years then next on the list is a Gen1.

I reckon itll be fine mate.

Think all engines are bounced about the redline during the testing phase, not your particular one but a test engine. Plus the engine isnt brand new, well run in and well used no doubt. In my experience with engines they operate far better being thrashed rather than babied. Hopefully it was ticking over long enough for oil to get to the parts before the muppet got involved.

I like all of the concepts shown in that magazine....its as if the manufacturers are blinded to the fact that some bloke from leeds can manage to knock up a top design on his laptop during his lunch hour while they pile millions into making bikes look shit....I cant fathom it.
