Alkylate fuel--- had to google it. I guess you wont be putting E10 in anytime soon  :D


Not taking any chances with this old beast and the new fuels Cai. Already had to replace a fuel tap and have the carbs refurbed,  i store over winter. We have it on ships in the port i work at, high octane blend stock basically mega petrol, they use it in chainsaws and stuff when in storage. Its done the trick the last few years over winter storage. I’ll happily chuck E10 in when riding and running it through….well maybe happily isn’t the right description but it runs ok on it.

Got it out of the garage for a pre mot shakedown


the garage was smelling nicely of fuel.......it had dumped most of a tank of expensive Alkylate fuel everywhere


Noggy mechanics 101............just take it for a spin and clear the cobwebs out........result...........fixed!


That's why Yamaha bikes rule and why red ones are the best 8)

Up visiting the homeland the other day and spotted an american trying to rock a kilt.........the cheapest tea towel looking bit of scabby cloth i'd ever seen................i bet he rides an electric bike....or a segway......a black one  :lol

Everyone said a while back that £1000 was about as low as they'd go and then ratty ones ended up going for 600-800....i'd say £1000 is realistic for yours Stuart.


Mine is on 38k miles but is immaculate with no damage and in the fastest tri colour red and an R6 shock.....i'd value mine at £1000....i give yous the same value due to the lower mileage but with some damage.

I dont agree, looking at what they have sold for recently but thanks for your input. I would not sell it for £1000 I would keep it.., the parts put on it in
the time I have had it are over £600!
There is only one on Bike Trader nationally at £1000 and that is nowhere near as good as mine. I will see what happens, not that desperate for money yet!


I wouldnt jusdge what others are advertising at, as mentioned it does not relate to how much they will actually go for. I paid £1200 for mine 2 years ago, in theory it would be advertised around £1400.


If you already know what the bike is worth to you then theres your answer already. It will sell at any price within reason it might just take longer.


Good luck though, shame to hear of the circumstances.

If the bike isnt your main means of transport and you dont "need" it for work then just accept nil return for it, get shot of it and be relieved of the stress thats going to come......it will be liberating i'm sure.


Shit happens & Unexpected malfunctions happen but at least it was nothing that spat you off the bike with injuries.


It is better to get shot in a dignified manner than to scrape around for pennies for it or spend money you cant afford and will be forever grudged.


Theres always more chances for bikes in future if you dont set yourself ultimatums and deadlines.......plenty cheap bikes, even big ones for £1000 out there with full mot and in good running order.

This thread is really good, even if it is pants & we talk nonsense because through that comes so much more knowledge from others. I regret my mention of ships now but there was context in my speed loss through a corner from a small bit of roadcraft i did on 4 wheels.


Despite all of that i am a firm believer in some of the other principles & especially having the suspension neutral before turning.....i personally dont believe in the front suspension having to be dug in to corner well as I think both front & rear needs equal traction.....on a really long corner mid way round if you have loaded up the front purposely surely mid corner this has now returned to neutral but it doesnt suddenly break away into non traction.


If trail braking is using the rear brake mid corner then i've never dared try it as i am so uncomfortable on my right foot on the bikes i have owned that i cannot comfortably hold my foot near the brake pedal never mind using it mid corner at a split seconds notice with finesse......also i feel that to do too many things in a situation overloads the brain and we cannot multi task, something will give & i think that the whole looking where you want to go not only helps the bike round but also psychologically commits the brain to success and commitment & i would say to use that instead of sharing it with braking.


I am in awe following trail brakers as i just cant do it but i also feel that they are already planning on trail braking most of the time before the situation requires it....almost like drifters kicking the back end out on cars......i just think that it is a style of riding rather than an emergency thing & i suppose with riding mostly being enjoyable then if thats what they enjoy.....why not......just not my style.....as i say i cant even get comfortable on a rear brake...we are all different.

I'm confused by my own shit now.......it was def mentioned in relation to cars.....and ships do it.........maybe bikes are totally different........forget about contact patch on the road and think more about heat loss during cornering or energy loss.....or do tyres not get hot whilst cornering.....or are they just as hot whilst cornering as they are in a straight line?......think on that foccers, this thread is good i reckon it could end up a good thread of nonsense :lol


Anyway to keep flooky happy.....the answer is you know when the limit is reached when you fall off.....i suppose chicken strips could also be called in the bag strips.....something extra in the bag for when shit goes wrong so that you dont fall off......mmmm....chicken.....in the bag.....chicken in the bag.......so hungry


Always carry a bag of KFC when considering riding near or at the limit.... :b

So the throttle in a corner is just enoughto replace that speed loss (energy loss) to keep everything neutral and settled, not to accelerate.
I thought that was normal - otherwise you are coasting around a corner which case you are more likely to loose grip.


No dude what i mean is whatever throttle you have on entering the corner needs to be increased slightly whilst going round in order to keep the same speed.


If you kept same throttle from entering as during then you'd slow down due to the corner scrubbing off  some of the energy.

Something i was tought with 4 wheeled driving is that when cornering you are applying throttle to compensate for the reduction in speed caused by the corner itself.


As you turn the corner there is a natural sap of speed.......same as ships....to slow down they sometimes make a turn.....it uses up energy.....that energy is transferring to your tyres and turning into heat.


So the throttle in a corner is just enoughto replace that speed loss (energy loss) to keep everything neutral and settled, not to accelerate.


What i find difficult on a bike as opposed to cars is that as i throw myself round a corner i find it difficult to physically hold the throttle at a steady position, especially if theres any bumps mid way round and ive been cought out accudentally throttling on too much by mistake.

No, his shock is the 2008 onwards version that doesnt need any grinding. You can tell by the shock's top compression adjusters - both are contained  in a single unit (outside one is anodised blue and the inside adjuster anodised gold).

I think its just how easy facebook is, just a click the phone and straight on although the humour just isnt the same and its not as good being able to look through everyones profile, much better the mystery and forum callsigns


For years i resisted the facebook site and on the whole i still dont find it as good........actually my tuppence worth is that foc-u should never have gone facebook official as it would have been better people starting up their own fazer facebook instead which may have left more on here.

The filing mentioned above is only for the 2006-07 R6 2c0 shock: if you have one of the 13s (2008 onwards) shocks as per picture then no filing is needed.
Spacer can go on either the top or bottom, most people prefer it on top of the spring.
Thickness - well, the Faulkner springs are 152.5 mm long whereas the original R6 spring is about 165mm long. So the extra spacer is to take up the missing spring length.  It can therefore be between 10mm - 15mm thick, depending on how much preload you want on the replacement spring.

Hey everyone


Im finally getting round to fitting one


I have kebabs dog bones and spacer and i had top hats made up


Just ordered a 725lb faulkners spring


Just curious about the filing of the top of the shock mentioned earlier......is it still neccessary?.


Also that collar above it looks like it has been fitted on top of the spring and is much taller than the one i have from kebab, i thought the spacer went on the bottom of the spring?


Main reason im here is that this site is a far better resource than facebook, i feel like facebook has robbed this place even though im on the facebook site......this thread is invaluable

For Sale & Wanted / R6 shock for FZS600 conversion.

The dog bones & the collar are prototypes made by Kebab who pioneered them on the 600. As such are tarnished & he provided me smaller nuts (ahem) to compensate for thickness of the bones otherwise get some made up from projection components.


All the info is on the Foc-U forum.
Thanks To Kebab for the stuff but I’ll probably end up with more of a party piece bike next year so will be a waste to fit this now.


I want 175 earth pounds for it (posted) which is a fair price.

I’ve only just got it on the road so I think the conversion will need to wait until next year but I look forward to it and in the meantime if I come across anyone locally who can copy the bits I might get a few sets made up just so as to keep the conversion alive...well at least help.👍

Also cheers to Kebab as he has managed to find his original alloy preload spacer plus some suitable top bolts.So all i need now is some custom dog bones and i have a full fzs600 to R6 shock conversion kit.If anyone fancies buying the other shock we can probably figure something out with getting a copy of the spacer made up. 8)


Im not entirely sure how all the bits work but im sure itll make sense once i have them all together. Theres allot of info on this thread ill go through.
