Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / High speed weave ktec springs and 10w oil
« on: 07 June 2017, 11:09:42 pm »
Hi all,
I have recently had my fzs1000 forks upgraded with ktec springs for my weight and 10w oil as recommended by ktec. Generally the ride quality is improved. The bike also has r6 Shock conversion and 10mm forks through yolks. Tyres are Dunlop Roadsmart 3's. The bike has developed a high speed weave which can be experienced in the higher part of the Rev range at the silly end of the speedo but when short shifting behaves normally. The bars  begin to weave side to side steadily increasing until I think a tank slapper is next. Worrying! Tyres are new, no apparent play in swing arm, head stock or wheel bearings, wheels balanced and in line, tyre pressures correct. I set the sag when I put the forks back in the bike. Now showing 2 and half rings preload. Compression not far off standard and rebound a little softer. I am 14 stone in kit. Any suggestions? Anyone experienced similar? I am assuming I don't quite have the suspension quite right as yet. Anyone similar weight with same fork springs and a set up? Thanks

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / PR 4, Roadtec 01's, Roadsmart 3

Hi all,
Yep it's another tyre thread! Sorry but I am considering a pair from the current crop of tyres which offer the all round performance and good mileage. Having not used any of them cos I usually buy the best priced half decent tyre on offer from eBay  :rolleyes , has anyone used any of them and can recommend on the gen 1? I would say my general use is hooning, odd commute, a couple of long tours a year. Riding style smooth and rapid. :b  I have ktec springs up front, forks 12mm raised, and the r6 Shock conversion plus the usual ivans modifications. Cheers.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Stuttering Fazer 1000
« on: 30 August 2015, 05:39:01 pm »
Hi all,
I have a 2003 Fazer 1000 with 14k on the clock. It had some light cosmetic damage and had been stood about six months. The bikes exup was a little sticky when I got it. It's got a full service history. Since repairing it I have serviced the bike, fitted Ivan's full Monty, iridium plugs, pipercross air filter, modified air box and manifold rubbers, balanced carbs, serviced exup. The bike also got new coils as it was running on three cylinders. The bike has an issue with stuttering really badly at around 2500 to 3500 rpm almost clears by 4000rpm and then takes off like a scalded cat. If you go from a standing start and nail the throttle the problem doesn't show but anywhere in those revs if you crack the throttle the bike almost dies. I have had the carbs out three times now, checked fuel, used fuel additives, checked plugs, checked exup valve and cables, checked fuel hoses and filters, checked breathers and anything else which might normally be an issue. The problem still persists! It's driving me insane. Is there anyone out there who could point me in the right direction?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Fazer 1000 gen 1 2003 poor running low revs
« on: 15 August 2015, 11:18:57 pm »
Hi all. I have a Gen 1 Fazer 1000 2003 which I picked up in April as a do up. ( light cosmetic damage ) I have added a Ivan's full monty kit, akrapovic end can, modified the air box, pipercross filter, modified the manifold rubbers and balanced the carbs. On top of that I serviced the exup and the tps was fault checked ok. I have fitted new plugs and coils because it was firing on three cylinders which appears to have worked. However....the bike stutters and coughs around 2.5 to 3k when coming on the throttle or within that rev range and runs rough upto around 4k where it starts to clear and then takes off like an r1! If you nail the throttle from a start through to the red line then the stutter doesn't appear. It only appears in that rev area when you open the throttle. Today it was so bad as I rode through a village that the bike stalled and struggled to start again. The bike has 14k miles and appears looked after. Any suggestions?
