General / The foc-u font of all knowledge - misfuelling cockups....
« on: 18 August 2016, 09:55:44 pm »
Howdo kids, not been around these parts for a while, but I just know someone out there knows chapter and verse on this one....

I run a fleet of vehicles (9 bikes and 4 cars) - one of the cars is leased to us and changed every 3 months or so. At the end of July we got a new one, which was petrol when all the others have been diesel. Day 2 with a brand new car, and a muppet puts diesel in it, gets about 200 yards before it craps out on him. Its been drained and flushed through, runs fine now, but the engine warning light will not stay off, code P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) is recorded. Its had Cataclean through it (3 bottles), and had a cat regen program run today - but the code returns.

What else can I try / get done - is my only option going to be a new catalyst?

Any info muchly appreciated!!

Time to draw on the font of foc-all knowledge....

Anyone been to Croatia on the bike? I'm looking for a place I can stay next summer, around 8 people / 6 bikes, for 3/4 nights. Obv got to be bike friendly, don't mind whether its coastal or hilly area, whether its rural or in a town (as long as the parking is secure if in a town).

What ya got???

I know there's a couple of folks on here that've had a couple of versys? Are the back brakes shit as standard? We've got 3 hired ones in Thailand, and they're all the same, crap! Any info good :-)

Anyone use this? I tried last night, and tonight (get it free with Prime, cos I focced up and forgot to cancel it before the free trial ended  :lol ), and TBH, its unwatchable. So glitchy, stuttering playback, I'm lucky if it plays 10 seconds before buffering again. Ran a broadband speed checker, getting 31Mb/s down load speed so not exactly sluggish, the TV is hardwired into the router - anyone got any ideas where I should look to resolve it??

Thought I'd post a reminder, and let the young uns know about something that was used loads in the past, but I haven't seen mention of recently.

Time was, when some ugly foccer needed to get something around the country, they would post it up on here. As there's a fair few foccers travel around a fair bit, there was often one (or 3,working in stages), could get the item where it needed to go. Obviously no good if speed is an issue, but it would be good to see this running again.

General / Zumo 660 Help
« on: 09 March 2014, 08:08:48 pm »

Hi,

A question for the zumo 660 / "Garmin in general" gurus out there...

I spend far too much of my time working with my local Blood Bike group (www.northumbriabloodbikes.org.uk) and have just bought a couple of 660's to kit our bikes with. I'm trying to create a file that I can load onto each unit, containing all the hospitals & other locations that we visit, so that riders can find easily each destination. I'm trying to avoid having to manually enter over a dozen locations into each unit (we also have a BMW Navigator V, which is effectively a 660, and are likely to be buying 3 more of these devices this year, so manual isn't really an option!).

I can create a POI file, and load that in - but it doesn't seem that you can search for manual POIs? All I've achieved with this, is having it show on the screen that you're there, when you get there, which isn't much use   :rolleyes

Any idea how I can do this, please? What sort of file should I be creating?

Has anyone used one of these?

http://www.on-bike.com/products_original_red.htm

Looking to buy myself a Christmas present :-) it's a toss up between this and a more traditional lift (Clarke jobby from machine mart).

Any experience useful, especially on bigger Bikes like a pan European or bmw 1200rt! Am thinking of the footpeg mounts...

General / A sobering reminder, on this festive season
« on: 21 December 2013, 07:25:41 pm »
With Xmas upon us I would like to share a personal experience with my family and friends about drinking and driving.  As you may know some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" with friends. Well two days ago I was out for an evening with friends,at the bike Club, and had more than several beers followed by a couple of bottles of some rather nice red wine.   Although feeling jolly I still had the sense to know that I may be slightly over the limit.   That's when I did something that I've never done before - I took a cab.   Sure enough on the way home there was a police roadblock but since it was a cab they waved it past and I arrived home safely without incident.   This was a real surprise, as I had never driven a cab before! I don't know where I got it and now that it's in my garage I don't know what to do with it.   So if you want to borrow it give me a call.

Driving the cage home from work last night, thought handling felt off... Checked this morning, rear tyre got virtually 0psi in it, plus a whacking great nail... Nae bother though, cos this mornings job was to put the winter tyres on, and in any case, its worn down to the tread markers so was going in the bin anyway!! Makes a change from getting a puncture when you've only just put the tyre on  :D :D

General / Lockable Sat Nav mounts?
« on: 05 August 2013, 08:57:07 pm »
Who makes 'em?

Touratech, for one, any others?

I need to get a sat nav sorted for my Blood Bike group, the bike will regularly be left outside hospitals etc, and since a) it isn't owned by the rider, and b) they'll often be on an urgent delivery, be very easy to leave the sat nav behind. So we want (need) it to be in a lockable cradle, to stop at least casual walk by thefts.

Any info / experiences much appreciated!

Richard

Anybody familiar with this system?

I'm considering getting a play3, and connecting cable direct to my router. If at some point in the future I get another play3 for another room, will I also need to get a bridge, or can the two play3's talk direct to each other?
