General / Re: FAO email list for Gathering in the Glen
« on: 01 September 2014, 11:22:40 pm »
tried that, no joy obviously.

part of the frustration is that the email address is the primary one on my BT account. I've been trying to get BT to make one of my sub account adresses the primary and let me delete the infected one, but that doesn't seem to be easy.

Kosmic, would you mind taking my name out of the title on the lead post? cheers

I was meaning a full sized colour headlight, not a bleedin fairylight ;)
And principally to be seen from the front ie when approaching junctions or filtering.

Slight tangent, but still pertinent...I've thought for years that bikes should be allowed to use a coloured light eg purple or yellow on the front and rear to make them stand out, especially in winter when other vehicles have their lights on too. Cycles can have flashing lights but put that on yer bike and could be disaster. Unique colours for us would work better than hi viz any day, all day.

Thoughts?

:lol you bunch of nutters :rollin

Hey Trev (purplebear, not BM) I understand a lot of your sentiments (struggling a bit with the diving analogy though :pokefun ), but its been a long while since anyone was on a postcount boost. I think the comments about postcounts were more a reference to newer members not knowing some of the history of the site, and the many events, incidents, meets, pisstakes, arguments, etc that have occurred over the years and which make this site more of a club than just a forum. Some of the "fault" for this lack may lie with the absence of some of the longer term foccers who for various reasons have taken a sabbatical, but also a lot of the historical posts containing the "history" have been lost in the moves/crashes/virus attacks.
There have been a number of times over the years when folks have said "its not like it used to be", but that happens everywhere. Saying that, the last day or so it's felt a bit like old times  :D

One comment in this thread stood out for me... the forum/club needs a revival of regular local and national meets.

stick with Scandinavia, go on, dare to be different. yes, ferry is expensive, but you're not exactly far away from Harwich, or Dover unlike we were. the Denmark ferry takes you up to Esbjerg which is level with Dundee (how pissed off do you think we felt living in Glasgow?), or you could ride up through the Netherlands etc.

it was a serious suggestion - apparently they are great for distance comfort. never tried one myself though.
