Fitted my hot grips today, piggy back fuse on the turn signal, 5a fuse in the piggy back plus the inline 5a on the live wire.

Whilst I was at it, I fitted 2 led strips and wired them into the hotgrips power cabling, £2.95 on eBay.  Somewhat overpowered by the headlights but I have some side coverage with the DRL's so more chance of being seen.

All seems to work ok

It's a funny story about the HID's, and my garage looks like a hid warehouse!
Set1 - Ordered 1 set from China, h1 and h4-3, £23

Got impatient waiting for them to arrive
Set2 - ordered a pair on eBay from a Chinese seller but despatch from the uk, asked them to send a h1 and h4 bulb. 2 days later, I received 2 boxes from them, 2 pairs of h1 so 4x ballasts, 4x bulbs. £18.
Improvised the h1 to fit the h4 socket.

Set3 - Bought another set on eBay h4-2 as I wanted a h4 bulb. £18.

Set 1 arrived 2 days after set2, so I put the h4-3 in instead of the improvised h1.  Set3 arrived another 2 days later!

All 35w and 6k.

So for under £50, I've got 8 ballasts, 5x h1 bulbs and 3x h4 bulbs!  Should keep me going for a few years...

Only fitted for a week now, no problems with the glass.  As for mot, it'd only take 5 minutes to change to normal bulbs if necessary.

H1 - single hid bulb
H4-2 - hid low beam and halogen high beam
H4-3 - single hid bulb which moves for lo/hi beam.

I have h1 (left side) and h4-3 (right side) fitted in the picture.

Planning on buying a h4-4 bulb to try, 2 hid bulbs, requires 2 ballasts. Think I may have a spare laying around!

Don't expect magic miracles with hid, but they are a huge improvement over halogens with the dip beam mod.
I had osram Nightbreakers in before, and these are so much better for similar money.

Oh, and for the H1 side, get a Honda Civic Type R H1 HID adaptor:

Its a slightly loose fit, so wrap a little electrical tape around the base of the H1 HID bulb

Interestingly, or more annoyingly, i pulled up at work, popped it on the sidestand and buzzed for the car park lift (underground car park, lift takes you down). When the lift arrived, i put it in gear and it promptly stalled - silly me still on the side stand.
But it wouldnt re-start, battery just didnt turn it over.  Theres a steep decline down to the lift, so i popped into second, rolled into the lift and let the clutch out, it immediately fired up and i clutched in before running out of lift.
I HAD previously disabled the battery saver mode on the hotgrips, and with a lot of stop/start at traffic lights in that London, i'll presume they brought the battery down a bit.
I let the bike run for 10 minutes in the car park with grips and headlights off, hopefully i'll have enough battery juice to start it, as there's no way i could push it UP the steep decline (its about 40degree's for 2 meters).  Might have to try and bump it in the flat car park.
I've now turned battery saver mode back on...
