Need some more advice please:
For years I had a BOC ticket and porta pack oxy-acet with the usual stuff for cutting and welding etc then about 3 years ago the licence renewal came in at £400 or so and just not worth it as a nice to have in a DIY workshop and using it every two/four weeks or so.
Be good to have it back (but not at that £400+ price tag) for heating , welding and brazing - has anyone experience of the canister/aerosol fed oxy-acet or oxy propane (less hot but think ok) systems??
Many thanks

I've got an oxy acetylene set up, had it for years. Bought them from a boot fair. Both Small bottles.
When the oxy ran out I simply went and got another and paid a small monthly rent for it.
Never had a licence, was never asked to get one and it's the first I've heard of it.
Haven't used them for years and I simply cancelled my monthly subscription and returned an empty bottle.
If I ever need to refill them I'll take out another one and cancel it after a while.
There is no mention of requiring a licence on this price list website.

Unless 600 owners can't be trusted with such things :evil

I have an oxy/propane setup which does most of what I need. No good for welding of course but my small mig welder fills that gap. I don’t use it a lot so with no rental to pay that suits me fine.
The bottles are from a local Hobbyweld stockist and although a bit expensive to start with there is no ongoing cost other than for refill and in the unlikely event I want to jack in with them I could just return the bottles and get most of the initial purchase price refunded. Maybe not the cheapest way of buying the gas if you use a lot but with the amount I use I’ve not had to get a refill yet.
I’m a 600 owner so in response to PieEaters remark maybe you 1000 types need to stick bits together more often 😲
