I have trouble getting the photos down to 1kb to post from my phone.
I bought the engine and frame from Reaper.

'03 Fazer 1000 black frame and black engine with log book in my name. it's done 43k and was known to be a good runner before the bike was broken. I bought it for a project from a fellow forum member (Reaper) but have done nothing with it since. £150 collection from Fareham Hampshire.

Hi Clunkie,

I've made the decision to break my bike after all. It's a black tank with no rust but a few scratches from clothing and a tiny dent where your right testicle sits! I'm just checking the forum and ebay for prices and will list it next week probably...

With a couple of Fazers similar to mine selling for £1300 on ebay, I'm considering breaking by bike after seeing a post on the facebook page. Do you end up with 75% of your bike sat in the garage for months on end once the tasty bits have gone, or is there plenty of interest in parts now they're getting on a bit? Ta

Yes, I've just found a similar thing on a '99 R1 loom. I found a picture on a kit car forum showing the wire loops. It's the Yamaha Cyclelock part of the loom.  :)

Doh!
Sounds like a nice set-up BUT I'll be away riding for 2 weeks in May! :(

Seems like everyone but me is living the dream abroad!  :'(

I've got a full set of Givi luggage with 21 litre panniers and a Baglux bagster cover and tank bag for sale if you're interested?

Good point, I have read many a thread on here where people have instantly regretted selling their Gen 1’s...

Hi all  :)

I've bought a Triumph Explorer to go touring with the Mrs, and so now my Gen 1 which I'm quite fond of is now a bit redundant. It's been Ivanised and has an R6 shock, but is looking a bit tatty and the gearbox is a bit notchy at times.

Do I keep it, fix it up, and keep it forever for the cracking bike it's been, or ebay it as is, or maybe even break it? I'm not sure what to do with her...

What do you lot think?!!

Cheers

Andy  :)

I had mine 'Ivanised' today and it didn't disappoint! A cracking ride home with the better throttle response and none of the jerkyness on a steady throttle like before. It's made a great bike even better  :)

Thanks Mike for doing a great job, it was good to meet you and chat bikes for the time I was there. Good to meet and chat with the other guys too (sorry, forgotten names already!) with special thanks for 3 very nice cups of tea  ;)

I still have a look on Red monkey after owning a ZX7R for two years. It was similar to this site with a number of knowledgeable regular members which kept the forum busy. There are no real moderators on there but a great sense of humour, (once you get the hang of it) and if anyone was overly aggresive they would get jumped on. The only rule of the forum was to fill your profile in. It helped to see what area you lived in to see if you could offer help to a local chap.
The other is pbmag forum. Some excellent bike building going on over there......

I got fed up trying to find a user name that hadn't been used on ebay. I owned a DRZ 400 at the time so there you have it. Not many people own up to having a DRZ.......  :)

Nope been there done that
What one have you tried fitting and what were the problems? I have been  thinking about an '06 R1 swingarm for a while now.
When I put a ZX10R swingarm in my ZX7R it was fairly straight forward as Kawasaki keep similar dimensions for wheel offsets, shock mounts etc. Yamaha not so??

I stayed at the Pension Roesneck in early May. As mentioned before, it is highly recommended. Greg knows most of the passes over the Alps and would give you routes to ride if you wanted them. We travelled through Holland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Spain. Apart from Pension Roesneck we just found B&B's when we were getting tired. My mate went the year before so had a few he had visited before which helped. A top tip we found was find a tourist information centre as they had good B&B's on their lists and could ring them to check price and availability. We budgeted on 100 Euros per day for fuel, food and accomodation which was about right plus the cost of ferries. The Swiss Alps for me was the highlight of the trip. Just to warn you of extras, Mont Blanc tunnel is 27 Euros, The cable car to the top of Mont Blanc is 50 Euros and the train to the top of Jungfrau is 160 euros. Check the view online before you splash the cash!  :)
