The greasing the fork seal seems to go against the grain.

The last time I replaced my fork seals, I bought Slinkyglide ones that came with a small sachet of lubricant to keep them moving smoothly.

Its worse when you're stationery at traffic lights and the driver in front has his/her/their/whatever foot on the brake pedal the whole time.

Annoyingly, apparently some cars that have that stop/ start system that cuts the engine when they're stopped at traffic lights etc, rely on the foot brake being pressed to operate!

That means that, if you do like I was taught, ie foot brake to the lights, come to a halt, handbrake, neutral, foot off brake, the system doesn't work on those cars  :rolleyes

i found the Dave Moss videos on ergonomics very interesting, his analogy that you would never jump into a car with adjusting the driving position, yet we just jump onto bikes and expect our bodies to adapt was a very valid point and relatively simple steps to tailor the bike yo each rider.

Damn right!

I rode my bike for around 12 years adjusting my body position to fit the handlebars until I realised that I could adjust the handlebars to suit my body...!  :o

Nope, it's not just you.

Also they often have overbright LED headlights that are poorly aligned such that it sometimes appears that oncoming vehicles have their high beams on...  :2guns

Weird, the link is in the post when I hit "modify", but it's not appearing.

ADDENDUM: Ok, I've just looked and it seems that video is no longer available!

Just search for "Dump and Run Fork Oil Change" and you should find what you're looking for.

It definitely sounds dubious.

Is it asking you to click on a link or similar?

I once coined the expression "Talking biker bollocks" for those conversations between riders which tend to be a long list of anecdotes about good rides they've had and idiots they've encountered on the roads!  :lol

Can't say I've ever had a tyre fitting horror story, I go to Russ Tyres in Portsmouth and even though he's now retired, the guy who's taken over is just as good :thumbup

How did you get on with the YSS shock

Honestly, the best way to describe it is: I don't even notice it!

Which is good, because if I don't notice anything about it, it's doing its job perfectly :thumbup

That proves speed cameras are not there for safety and you would/should win in court. By warning people, they slow down and achieve the alleged aim of the camera to slow people down.

Unfortunately that's very true :-(

Warning other road users of a Speed Camera can be classed as Police Obstruction:

Quote
Flashing your lights at other motorists to warn them about speed cameras could count as police obstruction.

GoSafe says that if you were caught, the court might consider the following:

Was there any obstruction of a constable?
Was the constable acting lawfully in the execution of their duty?
    Was the obstruction intentional?

According to the Crown Prosecution Service, you could get serve 1 month in prison for police obstruction and potentially get a level 3 fine, which is £1,000.

Thanks for that.

I really need to do my valve checks at some point, as well as a bunch of other stuff, so I might as well bundle the radiator in with the other jobs.

Paint the bottom of the raditor with some cylinder black, as the original has started flaking off.

I've been meaning to do this on my radiator for a while, is there any particular brand you'd recommend?

Of course I am not talking about a free for all  :rolleyes - I am talking about a law change requiring new bikes to be fitted with the pink colour DRL then all older bikes can add the CORRECT colour LEDs if they like.

You might have said that in your original post, then.

Quoting from the MOT Inspection Manual:

Headlamps’ colour must be one of the following:

    white
    yellow
mainly white light with a blue tinge

If a motorcycle is fitted with front position lamps, they can emit one of the following:

    white light
    amber light
mainly white light with a blue tinge

Rear position lamps must be red.

So these would be illegal, also imagine everyone having their own favourite colours on the front of their bike, it would look a road full of Xmas trees!
