How much of your weight do you have to use to push the tail down? That would be similar to the amount of weight resting on the collector box (allowing for leverage etc)

I'd have thought that failures would be more likely due to metal fatigue from the constant vibration.

Nowhere on the internet was I able to find back side of speedo (motherboard) with wires in exact places, so if anyone has picture of their own, or can help in any way that would be very welcome :)

Ask and ye shall receive :)

Shouldn't this have been in the What did you do with your Fazer today thread? ;)

I've moved this to the FZ6 Fazer Forum as it's more appropriate.

First question: Can you push start the bike? (It may take a few attempts because the failed starts might have left unburned fuel in the system).

If so, the problem may well be with the alternator or regulator/ rectifier meaning the battery is not getting charged properly.

Have a look here for the FZ6 manual with details of how to use a multimeter to check the outputs and see if they're in spec.

https://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?action=downloads;cat=3

Also get a Drop Tester (or a friendly local garage) to check the battery as "new" batteries can be faulty (trust me, I know!)

Have you checked your front tyre for uneven wear?

If it's worn down on one side, replacing it might fix the problem.

Hello everybody, unsure how to use this site so hopefully i’m doing it right but ported the cylinder heads out and milled it so that 99 octane fuel can now be used to my advantage for extra power on the 600 (engine was already out replacing the 2nd gear shift fork) :) however this does mean regular fuel will cause detonation so premium only from now on yay

I would suggest posting this in the FZS600 02-03 Forum area so people who have the same model of bike as you are more likely to see it and reply.

I just found the ad on YouTube and it says at the bottom "stunts are performed by professionals, do not try at home".

But IMO any "professional" rider wouldn't be part of such a stupid advert that apparently promotes irresponsible riding in completely unsuitable footwear!

Look on YouTube for the Fortnine videos where he explains that pretty much any reasonably well known brand tyres will be sufficient for the majority of riders who are never going to push them to their limits.

Personally I've gone from Bridgestone 023s to the T30s and T31s and will upgrade to the T32 in the not too distant future because I don't see the attraction in using tyre technology that's over a decade old.

Welcome to the Forums, it's a bit quiet around here these days, but there's still plenty of knowledge around :thumbup

BTW where are you in Bristol? I grew up in Long Ashton, then moved to Clifton for a few years before coming to live in Portsmouth where I am now.

When I was looking at lowering my FZ6, it was a (fairly) simple bit of maths to calculate this.

Working out the sides of the triangle formed betwen a) the wheelbase line and the side stand and b) the base of the side stand a point on the seat directly above the side stand.

This will let you calculate the lean angle.

Then work out how much shorter the bike will be and you should be able to figure out how much shorter the side stand will need to be to compensate.

Alternatively, there are side stands which have an adjustable length, although I don't know how strong they are.

If you include the details of the model of Fazer they're for and your location you may get more interest.
