General / Winter gloves
« on: 27 August 2012, 03:09:25 pm »
I know, it's not time yet!

But just thinking ahead, any one got any preferences on winter gloves? Last winter I used a pair of police R4 gloves from Silvermans with a pair of merino wool gloves on underneath when the temperature got below 3 or 4. Lowest temperature used was -2 on a dry day round the M25 and after 40 mins I was just about ready to cry with pain.

This winter I'm thinking of fitting heated grips and getting a pair of decent winter gloves, anyone got any preferences?

FZS600 Fazer / Stupid question but,,,
« on: 06 August 2012, 03:02:28 pm »
Is the air filter the same in the Mk1 Fazer and the Mk2 Foxeye?

In the book of words all it says is the filter is a Dry Element type.

Just before I buy this one,,,,

FZS600 Fazer / Suspension settings, anyone had a fiddle?
« on: 28 May 2012, 10:17:59 am »
Took the rear pre load up one click (harder) and screwed the forks preload down one notch and now the bike seems a little better in the handling department.

Could be because I'm 90Kg and probably heavier than the standard settings allowed for. Anyone else had a play about?  Running 32/36 tyre pressures as well.

General / The B500
« on: 13 May 2012, 07:56:30 pm »
Thinking of going over to the Black Forest in September and looking for tips...

I'm looking at riding the B 500, has anyone had any experiance and pointers for campsites etc? All I've seen bikerwise is the Pension William which gets glowing reviews.

All help gratefully received!

General / Waterproof boots, anybody got any?!
« on: 24 April 2012, 08:45:09 pm »
After trashing my old boots last year in a spill, I thought I'd treat myself to a nice pair of waterproof touring boots and the ones that came out at the top of my budget were the rather aptly named Alpinestar Hydro Sport Drystar.

With a name like that, how could I possibly go wrong! (all boxes ticked...)

Currently on my second pair, first pair went back quite quickly as they leaked straight away so were replaced under warranty. Second pair let go this week in a torrential downpour on the way to work.

Anyone got any suggestions for boots that do what they say on the advertising? Couldn't get on with Altbergs (the first choice) as they were too narrow in the gusset and didn't want to wait 4 months for a made to measure pair.

General / Soft luggage
« on: 20 February 2012, 07:46:01 pm »
Anyone had any experience, good, bad or indifferent with soft luggage? Thinking of throwover panniers for the odd weekend away or WSB/BSB camping over.

Don't really want to go to the trouble of fitting hard luggage for very occasional use.

FZS600 Fazer / Blue headlights

Any opinions? I've just bought a pair from Passion Automotive (under £7 a pair) so will report back when fitted.

New to Fazers here,,

Bought the bike last week, happy with it etc, it all does what it's supposed to BUT!
When the bike's idling it's a bit rough sounding like a sewing machine. No cam chain rattle as such, just lumpy. Over 2000 revs, happy days! Thinking it could be the carbs need balancing but under throttle goes great.
I do a lot of filtering through London at low revs and it can get to be a pain. Do they all do that, Sir?

FZ6 / Fazer / Oil level check
« on: 28 January 2012, 10:00:37 am »
Hi there, new Fazer owner here,,,

Just read the post on Fazer maintenance and would like to check the correct method of checking the oil. What it said in the document was to run the bike for a few minutes then stop, let it settle and check the oil level. Normally I'd do this when the bike is cold and sitting on a level surface. Is this correct? Wouldn't like to overfill it  :o

Cheers guys,
