I have little rubber grommets in my front fender plugging holes, circled above.
Am I right in thinking this is for a fender extender?
If so does anyone know where I might purchase such item?
All the ones I have seen are stick on or drill and rivet, which seems silly if I already have holes for one.
Thanks

It's not for a fender extender. I think earlier 600's had a loop there for the speedo cable. I will have to check some of my old photos to make sure.
Well, mine had a blanking plug too, so it's not for the speedo cable.

mine(a 98 600)has exactly the same maybe yam uses the fender for another model and its prob for a speedo cable 'holder',you can get fender extenders (from ebay and good bike shops)that fit at bottom of fender with a couple of holes needed these help stop muck and stones flying up onto engine and rad etc ,had one on my last bike and they work great and will be fitting one to my fzs600 soon

Call me daft if you wish, but could it be for a tax disc holder? :rolleyes

You're daft ;)
markbubble is right, the mudguard was originally from another model (I forget which), and its a speedo cable guide.

Touche' :lol
I've got the same thing on my 2000 model, no hint of it ever being used though, the speedo cable is secured on the fork leg!

Thanks for replys, I thought Yam may have done one.
Looks like I'll just buy a normal one.
Edit: My mistake, thought I had one each side.
