monokey panniers, I need to know what type though
« on: 05 October 2012, 12:13:49 pm »
Hi all

anyone recognise what type of givi side panniers have here, need to buy new barrel locks and a mount for them.

I have been given these by a friend who need them anymore after his bike was nicked :(

I need to work out how to fit them to my 00 fazer

to fit them you will need the wing rack. As for the model, have a look round fleebay to find a match.

so far, it is the Givi N140 Wingrack II, that is used to mount these. has anyone got any photos of the wingrack II mounted on their 00 plated fazer600???

Yep look like the old Givi E35 cases.. are they smooth or slightly dimpled on the surface?, if theyre smooth its the first type, dimpled on the later models..
The Givi wingracks (mks 1 or 2) are pretty standard, its only the fitting kits that are different..
Had a look on the Givi site for 00 plate wingrack mountings but couldnt see a fitting kit - http://www.givi.co.uk/My-motorcycle/?ma=YAMAHA&mo=FZS-600-Fazer-00--03, dunno if the earlier model or 1000 model could be adapted or not..

As to the locks theres two types.. Ebay has them cheap at around £20 for a set of 3 matching ones (one key does all..) did this on mines.. had to modify ther hole slightly to get the locks to sit properly but it aint a difficult mod - I may have bought the wrong model part number one..

@budgie

Brilliant, thanks, so wingrack 2 and 1 are virtually the same, so that opens up options for the fitting kits.

When all this is sorted, will start a new thread, showing what is required for the 00 fazer and put up loads of pictures.

@ jikado
To the best of my knowlege the only difference I have noticed are cosmetic, The Kappa wing racks are also compatible in fittings etc too if you come across any of them..so parts are interchangable between the two companies.
Wingracks can come with indicator lights either fitted or not too..

roger that,   moving the indicators seems sensible.   the germans have some wingracks on ebay for as little as £15.20

So may go down that route

Careful - they have to attach to a kappa or givi monokey set up - they won't work with other older givi set ups or a random german one (if it sounds too good etc..) Second hand kits are £50 ish and come up reasonably often on fleabay. They have wired in indicators and fit on where the grab handle is, replacing it.

cool, will keep my eyes open on ebay then,  so excited.

I was too impatient to queue for patience when the good lord handed it out. was at the back of the room fliting with the fit angels.

I wait to get these babies on the side of my fazer.  such a poser.
