As this video shows if the condition are 100% clinical then yes there could be. but I doubt many of us will notice it.
http://youtu.be/knHeUF9JLzg

I once had tyres fitted in Costco and they filled with nitrogen. noticed no difference at all..

Back to the hand pump and pressure gauge at home I think.
Some people will try to sell sand to the Arabs and ice to the Eskimos  :D

77
Did he take your wheels off, place them in a vacuum tank to remove all the "deadly" air that was in them before filling with nitrogen, or did the 100% nitrogen just get mixed in with the bit of air that was in the deflated tyre already? ;)   :rollin

Cheers,
Rob

No, bike on side stand the machine nearly emptied all air then filled with Nitrogen then repeated that process once more automatically.

After another 2-3 weeks if pressure is hardly lost I'll be using it again mainly for the low maintenance aspect.

78
So if it's the oxygen molecules escaping surely that leaves only Nitrogen in the tyres anyway?
So after a few top ups of std air you've got Nitrogen filled tyres anyway and saved money :lol
How much was it anyway?

Great comment  :lol     I'll be mentioning that to this guy where up there next.

Lets see if he can squirm of of that!   :eek

After a cold start up in about 1.5-2 mins of idling the fan comes on.
When I get going and stopping at the lights I never notice is going on again unless waiting for a couple of light changes at a slow intersection (on those rare occasions where side mirror to side mirror blocks you going up the middle).

I can't answer this but great bragging rights would be a difference. 8)

On my weekend riding haunt a big bikers cafe has a guy offering Nitrogen for your bike tyres.
The brochure says better grip, feel, longer lasting tyres, stable pressure from cold to warm tyres, less carbon foot print through better tyre rolling efficiency and some other bullshit. Oh, and less leakage as the Nitrogen molecules are larger. Actually the air we breathe is 78% Nitrogen according to Wiki.

The leakage and stability adds up. I can't feel difference riding though. I thought I did straight up but that was probably in my head shortly after a double shot  :rollin

If anyone has tried the Nitrogen can you really feel the difference riding your machine?

Oh yes those days are expensive. Never had one though !
Will be doing one in two months I hope. Even with bring your own bike (scrut's incl must have hh pads) plus hire full leathers and boots all up AUD$700 (close to $US) ouch :'(

Ron must be mates with Keith, or enemies

Be done with chicken strips  :lol :evil :lol :evil :lol :evil :lol :D

VNA - yes, the 95RON will be the next tank full.

Save a bit of cash. Hopefully this will be the sweetspot (not wetspot  :rolleyes ) for the bike.

Today with my Gen 1 Thou I put in 20.5 litres of 91RON non Ethanol from 711 (usually use V Power 98RON) and did 280kms today hitting the twisties.

For whatever reason it did not stack up against the V Power. Especially noticeable with low down torque and top end power.

Mid range I couldn't tell.  3000 rpms 2nd gear wide open throttle a definite lack of grunt.

Whatever those boys at Shell are doing they are doing well. RON facts aside (as respect them) my bike loves the stuff and will continue to use the V Power.

I swear my Gen 1 has more get up and go with Shell V Power 98RON. Thrashing it I'm not sure but general running about the bike is more eager and recovers better from the odd accidental take off when the clutch grabs before the throttle revs the engine over idle.
I had a Mitsubishi Lancer 1990 1.5 Carb and Shell V Power 98RON was without any doubt producing better power and far better fuel economy over 95 & 92RON.

Tests on a Dyno would be interesting so as to quash the theory over reality situation.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Will a RI rear wheel fit on a Gen 1 Thou?
« on: 20 August 2013, 09:50:51 am »
I'm asking because then a 190 tyre would fit  :lol    - brakes fitting over disc issues I suspect  :'(

The Motobatt in my Gen 1 sat uncharged in a garage for a year and would only start with a clutch start. When I got the bike home after transporting it in a trailer I charged it with a low power charger for 3 hours and the bike started. No issues with it since. Upright mount in these bikes.

You must have been two sips away from running out of juice!  I once took my tank off to rid it of old fuel and shook it every way possible to let it drain out of the cock (you know what I mean  :lol )  Really hard to get it all out.
I remember on my old Suzy GS500E the fuel pick up was on the right side so if the engine stated sputtering you could ride the bike leaning to the right to get you to some fuel.

Must have looked very strange to people behind me when going straight ahead  :eek

This part of the forum is entitled "Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner" so it's not safe to make assumptions which is why my fellow pie fan asked the question.

The Yamaha owners manual for the Fazer 1000 says to use a semi-synthetic oil which is what I use (making sure it is bike specific).

I stand corrected   :o   re what bike

Great feedback and will be happy to continue with the semi synthetic and save the money

I just checked with my GPS and apparently I am on Earth. It also told me I am on a planet somewhere in a universe somewhere. Personally I'm not sure where exactly  :rollin
Australia according to my memory though. Sydney I'm sure. South of the equator.
Since I'm on the Gen 1 Thou part of this site I own and ride a Gen 1 Thou. 2001 model.

Note - a possum is a marsupial (wiki it if not sure)

94
I have used semi ester Belray 10W40 for my first oil change on my 01 with 57,000kms. The guy I bought it off owned it from 1 year old, told me he used full synthetic all his ownership and tracked it 10 times in the year before he sold it (put the left peg through his calf poor bastard dodging a possum on a wet night).   :'(

Is this a suitable oil for my bike being used as a commuter plus the weekend blast finding the redline a few times?

I'm sure there are plenty here with similar riding week to week  :D

I was literally dazed (oops Daved) and confused with the fuel tank size/reserve when these guys advised me the reserve was part of the total fuel tank amount, not a special hiding part like I was thinking  :o

They will help you out  :lol

Mine is -1 front / + 1 rear. Not sure about chain length as I bought the bike like that.

So long as you have enough adjustment to bring the wheel a little more forward you should be ok with the existing chain.

Going the way you have mentioned will make first gear full throttle difficult to control, short shifting to 2nd is a must even with my set up. Plus you'll be gear changing like a 600 super sports for general running about.

The extra acceleration is addictive  :lol  but tiresome gear change wise at times
:b

Have tried after market plates on a Suzuki 500 before with no probs at all.
Save the cash and turn your back at the expensive orig equip.
In some cases with some parts the aftermarket is from the same factory and identical but labelled diff.

What a nice and original machine you've made. Well done to both of you !

Surely, I'm not the only one finding that when hitting a right hander with some attitude that your shin is hitting that uncomfortable sharp plastic top part of the oil filler screw cap  :'(

Is this other Gen 1 Thou riders encounters ?

Some feedback would be great - perhaps I'm doing something wrong with positioning  :eek
