Ahoy.
My tank was vandalised last night and left with a huge dent and a damaged fuel sensor, it looks like i need to replace mine.

I don't mind small dents/scratches, doesn't have to be perfect.
Doesn't even have to be silver.

It does have to be cheap, though. I'm dole scum and can only just afford to keep the bike on the road, so something like this is a massive hit to my already crappy finances.

Ideally in the Leicestershire area as i can collect it to save money on postage.

All this after i'd just finished paying it off and getting it just so... Dammit.

FZS600 Fazer / Fazer 800 end can on FZS600?
« on: 19 August 2014, 12:23:39 am »
Just a thought. As OEM cans go, they're better looking than the standard 5DM chrome dildo and seem pretty cheap.

Will it work with little to no modification? (if mods are needed; what?)
Will it affect performance in any way?

Ahoy again, all.

Still on the trail of fitting a Koso DB01+ to my MD5.

Far as i can tell, all i need to know is which wire does what on the connector block on the back of the standard speedo/clocks so i can then route them into the appropriate connecting wire on the Koso module.

Had a bit of a google and a look through the manual, but found nothing i can see being useful.
Even just a list of which wire does what would be of use.

I'm just trying to avoid expensive labour charges at a garage for fitting when i could do most if not all of it myself with the right info.

Further: I'm thinking to keep things reversible (so i can take the speedo with me when i get a new bike), i'll knock together an adaptor for the existing connector and route the wiring to the Koso from there.

FZS600 Fazer / Mystery power drain / starting problems
« on: 12 August 2014, 07:32:44 pm »
So here it is: If i run the bike with a set of M&P dominator-like twin lights, then stop the bike, then try to re-start it; I get nothing other than the sound of a dead/dying battery.

Battery is very recent/tested/OK
Reg/Rec is new/tested/OK
Magneto is tested/OK
Charge rate is good at idle(approx 1k)/2k/4k revs
Starter and coils are OK

All i can think of is that either the lights are a MASSIVE power drain, or that there's some other problem.

Ahoy all.

I'm about to get a lowering kit for my 5DM1 as i find the seat angle a bit much on the old sensitive bit and wrist-loading. But wondering if there's much i can do to tighten up the rear? It's a bit on the spongy side for my liking.

Cheap options preferred. But open to swapping it out for an R6/R1 shock (or whatever fits)

FZS600 Fazer / Fitting Koso DB01r to FZS600 5DM1? Done it? Issues?

Strongly considering this speedo for my bike. Wondering if anyone has fitted one and can offer advice etc? Is it pretty easy?

FZS600 Fazer / [help] Need to know how much downpipe wrap to buy
« on: 25 July 2014, 07:20:09 pm »
Ahoy all. About to purchase heat wrap for my downpipes, but don't know how much i'll need. Hoping one of you have wrapped your pipes and can help.

Currently looking at a 10m roll at 2in wide/2mm thick.
I have the standard pipes on my 5DM1.

Link to wrap.

FZS600 Fazer / Strip rear panels and shorten?
« on: 21 June 2014, 05:22:18 pm »
Very much considering removing the rear panels, moving the CDI etc forward and dumping the stock rear light in favour of something just behind the sub-frame and LED-like. Then remounting the indicators and plate.

Anyone seen this done? Would love to see some 'after' shots so that i can decide if i want to spend the time/effort/money.

If i DO go through with it, i imagine i'll sell the rear plastics on ebay or something, which will probably cover the cost.

Introduction / <generic hello world post>
« on: 14 June 2014, 07:16:13 pm »
Ahoy all.

Recently got myself a '98 FZS600 which i'm taking on as a 'project' and making it a cheapfighter as my first big-boy bike. Quite the change from the 2000 Virago XV125!

Do we still do A/S/L on forums? Is that still a thing?
