General / Dragon Rally & winter camping
« on: 29 December 2013, 06:05:48 pm »
Hey all,

Hope you've had some well earned beverages over the festive period.

Looking forward to the new year, i'm going to be tackling the dragon rally in february with the Mrs.

For those that don't know, it means camping up a mountain, in february!!

What advice does the masses have on equipment? Mainly sleeping bags as we are due an upgrade on ours! We don't have a lot to spend, £30-40/bag. What have other people used? I know the rally is only 1 night but a good decision on bags now means we can go camping for longer periods in the summer (which is the plan).

Got the tent sorted, and seen some lightweight camp beds which are essentially heavy duty lilos.

we did john o'groats to lands end in August, so she knows the rules when it comes to packing light!

Any advice would be great =]

« on: 05 December 2013, 07:25:34 am »
Just been browsing the inter web getting some ideas together for a possible European tour next year, and have seen the euro tunnel have a half price sale on with prices at about £23 each way. I don't know if it's normal price but thought I'd share!!

FZS600 Fazer / Jumping to neutral
« on: 05 August 2013, 04:59:58 pm »
Went for a bimble to brid at the weekend, and started to notice that (particularly) going from 2nd to 1st it tends to 'jump' into neutral. Not a big issue but a bit annoying! It sometimes does it going up the gears too.

Just wondered if it was ought to be concerned for?!

For Sale & Wanted / Oxford panniers for sale - now sold
« on: 05 August 2013, 04:46:52 pm »
Due to lack of use, my panniers are up for grabs. A couple of marks but nothing drastic.

I think they're around 40l, it's the soverign range if that helps. Certainly expandable and more than enough space for a trip.

All traps are there, it's just missing a waterproof cover which has gone for a walk. If it turns up ill send the little bas***d in the right direction.

No burn marks, blue, good condition. Ideally looking for £40 to recoup some money on the Scott oiler I just got.

Located near selby, n.yorks. Any questions ask away!

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / End to End trip
« on: 31 July 2013, 07:06:59 pm »
Hey all,

So in a fit of madness, i've agreed to do the journey from John 'o Groats to Lands End starting the 25th August for a week, almost 2000 miles round trip! We are staying in B&B's though so that we don't have to carry a tent around in case the trusted british weather is completely S*it.

So, any advice? what will keep my arse from aching? What's best to pack? Any prep advice? The mrs wants an intercomm  :eek  (I can't hear the traffic love...)

The usual stuff.

I'll certainly be taking plenty of pics as we go around.

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: FZS600 wingrack 1/2 with fitting kit
« on: 14 July 2013, 09:42:45 pm »
As in title, wingrack 1 or 2 or any three piece hard luggage set for the fzs600, mines an '02 so it could be useful if it fit an '02 model!!

FZS600 Fazer / riding position
« on: 12 July 2013, 07:47:02 pm »
How do people find the riding position on the fazer? I've covered around 300miles so far on mine after having it about a month, and on some of the longer journeys (around 150miles), I start getting pains in my lower back and shoulder blades.

I'm 6ft but have longish legs. Is there a way to make it slightly more upright by using some different dog bones or handlebars?

My only fear is at the end of august i'm doing John O' Groats to Lands End with my dad and the overall trip will be around 2000 miles!!!

Any advice would be gratefully received, for either comfort or touring (as it's my first major venture into touring!!!!)

FZS600 Fazer / Givi kits
« on: 09 July 2013, 07:51:03 am »
This has probably already been covered but searching hasn't revealed anything...

I have a givi monolock rack fitted to my fzs600, the question is could a wingrack be adjusted to use the fitting kit for the top box case?

Or is there an alternative such as a pannier only kit? I've got soft luggage already but wanted to look at the hard luggage option for extra security etc when we go touring at the end of this year

Also, what's the practicality of a wingrack fully loaded with a pillion? I've heard mixed thoughts. It would need to be relatively comfy to take the mrs 2000 miles (I've already told her we can't get an intercom.......!!!)

FZS600 Fazer / pass light turns clocks off/on
« on: 30 June 2013, 06:17:40 pm »
Just been tinkering around my FZS600 this afternoon attempting to source the problem for the fuel gauge not working, and noticed that when the ignition is on without the engine running, as I click the pass switch the clocks switch off and then immediately come on again through their start up sequence.

Any body else have this problem?

Could it be related to the fuel gauge not working correctly (see other post further down), or indicative of a dodgy battery?

For Sale & Wanted / Fazer 600 '02 foxeye front fairing
« on: 15 June 2013, 03:37:36 pm »
Hi All,

So after having my new fazer 600 for all of 5 minutes, the front wheel slipped at a petrol station, scrapping the hell out of the front fairing as it hit the deck.

Would any one know of anywhere to get a yellow fairing, either fixed or replaced? Or better still, have a spare lying around that they would part with for some cash?

Introduction / Hi All
« on: 10 June 2013, 09:47:43 pm »
Hi All,

So, with a return to the world of biking after 4 years absence, I have just purchased an '02 fazer 600 'FoxEye' as my first foray into the world of 600's, as my last bike was only a small klr250.

Based in Selby, N.Yorks, I may see a few of you about with the infamous Squires cafe only a stones throw away.
