For Sale & Wanted / FZS60 Rear Shock
« on: 15 August 2017, 05:52:26 pm »
For sale is a rear shock upgrade I bought a couple of years back and never got around to fitting, and now I don't have the FZS600 any more, seems pointless keeping it!

Made by Betor, it has adjustable pre-load and compression/rebound through the bottom screw adjustment. That's about all I know and it sat in the shed for 2 years.

£50 ONO + P&P and it's yours.

Located near Selby, N.Yorks for those that may be local (20 miles from Leeds and York).

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted Givi e34/36
« on: 06 March 2017, 08:24:33 pm »
Bit of a long shot here, but I dropped my fazer in a muddy field on the dragon rally (huge embarrassment there but another story!!) bike came off ok, but the pannier not so much.

Limped home with a bit of duck tape plugging the 3" hole, but before fibre glassing it and making do, I wondered if anyone had an old style e34/36 pannier knocking around that may be surplus or even damaged that I could poach for spares.

For Sale & Wanted / Complete FZS600 exhaust system
« on: 03 May 2015, 05:03:33 pm »
Standard 600 exhaust system available for anyone that needs bits.

Downpipes are straight off my '02 foxeye, rust in the usual place on the collector box but it's not got any holes and isn't blowing.

End can is the standard 5dm one, a few scratches on the side where it had a minor scuffle with the road.

To you foccers i'd be looking at about £70 for the pipes and £25 for the can. Collection from Selby preferred but courier can be arranged at buyers cost (Myhermes is usually easiest as theres a shop I can drop it off at down the road, and prices are usually fair).

I'll try get some pictures this evening if you need them.

will be going on theifbay on wednesday.

FZS600 Fazer / 600 rear shock
« on: 12 March 2015, 10:00:05 am »
I bought a betor rear shock off here a few months ago and haven't got round to fitting it as yet, but wondered what the general feeling around betor as after market shock was, i've never heard of them!

I was dead set to change the standard shock out today, but after thinking a bit  more about it i'm not sure if i should as for the first time in three years it handled great on the dragon rally last month.

FZS600 Fazer / Carbtunes in yorkshire
« on: 05 October 2014, 11:40:52 am »
Would anyone near selby, north yorks, have a carbtune or similar that I could borrow along with a hand to balance the carbs?

Getting an annoying vibration through the pegs between 6-7.5k revs in any gear and thought it's probably worth checking the balance.

For Sale & Wanted / For Sale: Oxford X60 panniers NOW SOLD
« on: 29 May 2014, 09:54:37 pm »
After getting a hard set of luggage, i'm sticking my black oxford panniers are up for sale.

I found them a great fit for my 600, with minimal sag (even fully loaded) and great for pillion comfort (gave the mrs plenty of room on footpegs etc.) giving approx. 60l of carrying capacity (when fully expanded). two of us managed a 2000 mile trip without the need to expand them (we just didn't buy anyone gifts!!!)

Pretty good condition, no burns, scorch marks, rips, tears etc. All zips work, both the waterproof covers & theres some bungees i'll pop in (to help get a good fit), and some non-slip matting to protect paintwork.

I'll get some pictures up asap, but in the mean time (just imagine them in black):

http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/58131

Ebay shows them going for around the £40 - 50 mark plus postage (at £10ish).

for you foccers, how would £45 delivered sound?

FZS600 Fazer / Fairing clips
« on: 28 May 2014, 06:59:28 pm »
Would anyone know the size of the clippy bits that go on the nose cone to screw the black infill panels too? Or have one lying around?

Bought some off eBay but they're too big. Mine got lost when the fairing was being sprayed!

For Sale & Wanted / Fzs600 starter cover (crankcase 2, LHS cover)
« on: 19 May 2014, 11:54:39 am »
As per title, my repaired starter cover. It's been plugged with araldite and painted. Gasket is damaged where I took it off but have some gasket paper I will include for you to make one up. No bearing in so you will require a new one/remove your old one.

it's done over 3000 miles with the araldite in place with no issues.

On offer for £25 & p&p.

General / New keys
« on: 30 March 2014, 09:20:48 pm »
Howdy all,

I've lost the keys for my givi box and it is locked. Does anybody know if it's possible to get a new key to match the barrel (number 055) or have one lying around somewhere?

Would be a great help!

General / givi wingracks
« on: 28 March 2014, 10:06:09 pm »
apologies for covering this yet again (as it's a well done subject) but i'm after fitting a wingrack to my fzs600.

I know that the kits are like rocking horse turds, so wondered how others had done them without the kit? Is the universal kit any good and if so has anyone on here done it?

How about you fabrication wizards? any of you around yorkshire fancy a bash for some beer tokens? I'm getting a little desperate with it all partly because i'm impatient and partly because I'm without a  top box at all at the moment and use it a fair bit!

I have seen a krauser kit on fleabay, but the panniers are ridiculously expensive!

For Sale & Wanted / wingrack for fzs 600
« on: 28 March 2014, 07:21:02 pm »
due to an incompetent w*****r on ebay who could not be arsed replying to emails in time, i've been let down on a wingrack and fitting kit I was going to buy from him.

So, that age old question, does anyone have a wingrack that would fit onto a fzs600, modified or standard that they no longer want/have sitting in the attic?

Cash waiting!

General / a bit of a noob question
« on: 24 March 2014, 07:26:35 am »
Morning all,

Advice needed on the best way to treat minor rust spots on the frame.

I've never dealt with them before, is it as simple as wire wooling the rust off and repainting with something like hammerite?

The spots aren't huge, a couple of patches around the front of the engine mounts, and also around the engine mount bolts on the side of the frame, so nothing too obvious. The bike lives outside under cover so want to deal with the rust before it takes over.

And while i'm at it, whats recommended to touch up the engine? Anyone found that secret product?

General / How to plan touring abroad
« on: 17 March 2014, 07:09:13 pm »
Well I've got the touring bug again and this time am planning a shorter break abroad, probably to France.

It's the first time travelling abroad on a bike. So the usual, what's what, road recommendations? Good b&b's? We'll be getting the euro tunnel over as it's only £50/bike return journey (and the mrs doesn't get on with ferries).

We'll only be going for 4-5 days total, so I'm planning roughly 1 day each side for travel (as travelling down from yorkshire) and so 2-3 days actually in France. Ideal mileage as worked out on the end to end last year was approx. 200-250/day. Anymore and it's tiring and painful!

For Sale & Wanted / 2005 thou shock for sale
« on: 15 March 2014, 06:15:09 pm »
For sale is a thou shock from a 2005 bought from this very forum. Got it the intention of fitting it to the 600 but lack time to get it done, and need to raise money for other more pressing issues on the bike.

£35 delivered to your front door.

General / anyone d'aaaaaannn saath (interpret - anyone down south)!!
« on: 12 March 2014, 08:23:22 pm »
Has anyone down south (mainly kent area) had much experience with paint mixes from auto paint pro?

I need some for re-spraying and they seem reasonably priced compared to RS paints (who I have used before and the colour was COMPLETELY wrong!!!)

Many thanks!!

For Sale & Wanted / For sale: rst Kevlar jeans
« on: 10 March 2014, 08:42:52 pm »
So with the good weather at the weekend, my mrs has found her rest bike trousers no longer fit.

Size 18r but as these mean squat the measurements are 38-40" waist and 31.5" inside leg.

Truth be told they are women's but you could best describe them as unisex as they are just straight leg fit.

Comes with adjustable armour in the knees and Kevlar reinforcing around your crucials (hips knees etc.) I think there is space for hip armour.

Only been worn a handful of times, with a small oil stain at the bottom of one leg but hardly noticeable.

Open to sensible offers but hoping between £30-40 to be donated to new trousers!

FZS600 Fazer / Paint colour codes/suppliers
« on: 27 January 2014, 06:55:45 pm »
Evening all,

After repairing the fairing on my yellow/black 2002 fox eye 600, I'm now after somewhere to buy the paint from to re-spray it.

I don't know if the person doing it would be using a sprayer or a can (as he is a known dad hand with both!!) but I need to supply the paint.

So, in the vast knowledge that lies here, would anyone know the right colour code and/or a reputable company that can supply said paint? Based up in north yorks but with the power of the internet etc.! I'll confirm sprayer/ can ASAP.

General / Sat Navs on bikes
« on: 09 January 2014, 09:43:46 pm »
This may have already been covered, but has anyone had much success with using non-motorbike satnavs (ie tomtom rider etc.) on their bikes. I've seen waterproof cases etc and just wondered what thoughts were.

FZS600 Fazer / Tyres
« on: 04 January 2014, 05:19:59 pm »
Will be looking for a new front tyre for my '02 600, and wondered what the advice of the wise and experienced would be, not just on the front but the rear too.

Planning on doing a fair amount of two up touring, but don't have a huge budget to spend on them!

Oh great voice on the inter web, direct me!
