Has anyone done a long trip on a Fazer. Thinking of going to Assen for this years Moto GP. Got to get from Cornwall to the tunnel first.
What would be a reasonable, sustained cruising speed and how long between breaks on average, bearing in mind I'm an old git

2-3 hours at 70 - 80 usually does the trick, otherwise you might be running out of petrol :lol
Worth having a coffee and a stretch at this point.

long trip? John O'Groats to Lands End to Lands End in 16 hours, 870 miles. Dead comfy, apart from the seat ;)

I guess everyone is different. One time a mate and I rode half way across Spain in a day which was knackering, and that was with hourly breaks.
Google says that from where you are in your profile to the chunnel is over 300 miles and will take 6½ hours :eek

Did the Nurnbergring in 6 hours (from Calais) taking in loads of B roads through France, Belgium, Luxemberg and Germany on a ZX 6 R and my arse was the biggest casualty followed by my wrists.
Had to pitch a tent at Nurnberg when we got there :eek
The whole trip was 10.5 hrs from home that day leaving a very tired boy...
I can attest that the Fazer is more "comfortable" but frequent stops for coffee and a stretch is a great idea.

yep, that 2 hr stint sounds a bit right. Any other comments on a bit faster speed, don't want to blow the guts out of the bike though.

The limiting factor will probably be your backside at sensible speeds, at insensible ones it's more likely to be neck muscles that will decide when you've had enough... the bike will be tougher than either. I find anything over 400 miles in a day to be quite hard going.

Even i on my 03 cg125 otherwise known as lola, can confirm that riding long distances with no breaks is no good for arse nor rider, After a while i tend to get very tired and need to have a drink and refuel myself!!. :rolleyes :rolleyes

i did over 200 miles on my cg125 in one day my arse did feel it but that night i woke up 5/6 times with really bad cramp in my calfs

I just skimmed through this thread and saw cruising and numb arse :rollin

My longest trip has been Madrid-Brussels: 1580km to go and 1700 km to return (avoiding Paris) , two days, with my girlfriend as pillion and the bike fully loaded with soft cases. We are pretty tall so there wasn't too much space. She felt pain in her knees. The French messed up with trucks stopped with the engines off for more than a hundred km for no reason that I know, it was summer and we were wearing black leathers. Lots of sweat. No Hotel reservations, so we were lucky we found one just next to the highway in the middle of France. When I arrived to Brussels I get lost looking for the place where we had to work that very evening doing porn.
It was insane but we loved it. Crazy times.
