Hi has anyone had this test recently, any advice on getting a first time pass.
Thanks

Have i missed out on some very important info somewhere, i knew the 1000's had a way of getting through the test but was under the impression that the 600's were a complete no no?

I know of quite a few older bikes that pass, one is an air cooled RD250, he paid for the test and it was under the NOX limit so passed.
Contact Yamaha and get the NOX rating, if it's below the limit, you can pay (£60) them to issue you with a certificate of conformity and send it to TFL. They'll add the plate to their database.

Thank you for the information, I have looked at this site before just wanted to now if any 02 fazers or earlier ones have taken the test recently and passed and at what cost.

Here you go, what we all need to know, Riverbank Motorcycles just replied to me:
"...A 2000 FZS 600 will test around 0.30 gm/KM as standard.
The quickest solution is to fit a small suitable catalytic converter into the exhaust system before the test, which would ensure a pass result.
This catalytic converter will not effect your power in any way.
The suitable cat would be £125, the fitting (approx.) £60 and test £175 making a total of £360.
Any brand of fuel is fine, as long as it hasn't been sitting in the tank longer than 6 weeks maximum.
Regards
Neil..."

I did that. The FZS600 is over the limit as standard

I have asked the question, just waiting for a reply, but if you book it in could you give us a clue on the waiting time please?
Mine isn't urgent as i live and work a couple of miles outside the North Circ, but i will get it done without a doubt. I would hazard a guess there will be a sudden rush around now to get it done.

Hi I'm booked in for Tuesday, but looking online 2 week wait I think.

That's much quicker than I was expecting.

"... If a CAT fit is required, on a Fazer 600, it will fit in the exhaust collector, just before the muffler, and it is internal.
It is getting busier than normal for the reason you mentioned, generally when it's busy we have a 2 week lead time, you can book via the website.

Hi just an update my 2002 fox eye 600 fazer passed the ulez this morning, before I took it in I drained the tank and ran carbs dry then filled with fresh 99 octane fuel then went for a long ride seems to have done some good.
Talking to the people at the workshop they say most foxeyes have a good chance of passing but not guaranteed, he did say boxeyes have a lower chance of passing first time but can pass with some adjustments I would say this is at extra cost you will have to ask.i would like to stress every bike is different so you take your chances

Any chance it will plug the rust holes :)

If it's the cat. converter i've seen online it literally pops into the end can, where the link pipe connects. If that is the case then it will be a huge rip off for fitting it, £60 for undoing 2 bolts.
My bike's booked in for Monday, so i will keep you posted on the outcome.

Well bloody hell! Good info, sadly too late for me, swapped my 2003 Foxeye Fazer for an FZ6 S2 a couple of years ago solely to keep riding into the city centre.
Did do the Certificate of Conformity exception route for my wife's old 2006 CBF500 mind, that was under the limit from stock and Honda were dishing out the CoC's for no money. Did us for a while and certainly helped when we came to sell it.

Thought I'd update this post. My 2003 600 passed the ulez test in east London last week, its 2003 but has a 99 engine. Passed towards the lower test range they expected so well in!
They said these bikes usually pass! Good experience tbh, seemed like a knowledgeable bunch and not the scam artists I thought they might be....although 175 for about 20mins is a bit steep!

£175 is a scam, TFL knows full well most bikes would pass. And the owner of RB m/c's has or had a family reletive that works/worked in tfl - hence getting this lucrative deal.
But there is hopefully a ray of sunshine, another motorcycle shop in ealing is or has now got thier ULEZ testing setup, so cometition should lower the prices.

My standard 1999 boxeye passed at Deptford, limit is 0.15...mine was 0.12.

Noice!
