Well that's good chuck in the fact it's silver and I don't reckon even Rossi can catch me. :)

I've already ordered the split chain now :(

I'm hoping I'll be alright as the thread looks OK. Won't know really until I screw the new one on, hopefully this weekend.

As I said I'm gonna take the oppurtunity to do the chain and sprockets.  I don't have a riveting tool, any recommendations? I was looking at this as I don't wanna spend a fortune http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161226315310 . Any tips for fitting chain and sprockets?

I had this problem, eventually the thing stopped working completely. It turned out to be the speedo sensor, the pickup not the drive dog. First though check your cables not rubbed through on your disc or anything and the earth as the dude said.

I know that's what's got me worried as to whether it had a thread or if it's been machined out as a temporary fix. Surely nobody would do that though. I'll get a pic of the shaft a bit later. I'm hoping the thread is OK, I'm assuming it's big job to replace.

Where's the best place to get the upgraded nut?

Hey people, so my rear hugger was knackered and a chunk had cracked off and gone forwards towards the sprocket housing, no bilgy whipped the hugger off and removed the broken bit from the housing. I thought I'd bester remove the sprocket cover to check that no little bits had gone into it. This is where it gets interesting, since I've had the bike I've had no reason to remove the sprocket housing and so I was interested to see what the sprocket but would look like having read that they're problematic. The sprocket nut just spun around I literally just pulled it off the spindle, there is no thread whatsoever on the nut and I can see a rub mark on the inside of the cover where it has been rubbing. So the only thing holding mine chain on was the thickness of the nut against the sprocket cover  :eek .

I'm not gonna ride it until I've got a nut on here and I'm gonna take the opportunity to replace the chain and sprockets. I'm worried now though because there is not thread on this nut and I'm thinking has the previous owner had a problem with it and just chucked on a bigger nut and reamed the inside out. I've got some photos, do you think it's possible for the spindle to wear the inside out this cleanly? There is thread on the spindle but I hope the new nut will go on OK.

I'm interested although not sure when I'll have the cash. If someone could give me a dummies guide to wiring them I would be pretty much guaranteed to get this kit.

Probably take you about 15 mins mate. It's simple, nothing holds it place, when you see the sensor it'll make sense, but on the near side of the front wheel the dog will slide into the sensor unit collar first with the lugs facing out (put a little grease on it) then line the lugs up with the wheel, a well placed foot to hold the front wheel in place while you slide the axle through and tighten up. Simples.

Fixed it yesterday  :D . The kit now lives under my seat, everone should have one. I took a video of the process and I'll post a link when I get home from work, it's easy to do just surprising how much you gotta tighten down and with an allen key its hard to get the pull you want without horribly disfiguring your hands  ;)

The drive is £16ish from Main dealer. The sensor and drive is about £130. From what you've said it's only the drive you need and there a pice of pee to fit. Calipers off, pinch bolts loose, axle out, grease, fit drive and reverse.  :D

I ended up ordering the stopngo plugger kit. The one with the "magic" mushrooms. I'm hoping it'll come tomorrow. I'll let you know how I get one, I might even film the process if I can be arsed :)

Lol is it really any good? The mushroom things look like they'd be a better long term solution. I seen something the same as the crafty plugger on ebay an was only £8.99 so prices is a lot better than £24.99 for the mushrooms.

Nah no Watling tyres by me. Funny enough I was looking at that plugger kit a second ago  :) . Are they a good long term solution? I might get those and keep them in my bike just in case if theyre good.

Got to work this morning and noticed a lovely screw/nail in the rear tyre  :groan it's just off the center of the wheel so I think it'll be repairable. Only put the new tyre on last month so I don't wanna bin it. I've rung a couple of places around me (Caerphilly/Cardiff area) and they don't do puncture repairs.
So 2 questions: Anyone know anywhere that does it? How easy is it to do it myself?

Just put it back in, we'll see how we get on with trip home. I'm not too hopeful as the fog I'm getting is on the inside (nearest my face) on the pinlock itself.

I thought about putting some silicone on mine instead of the bead the beads not really wide enough to get a good seal in my opinion. I'll try again with these stupid screws.

I've taken mine apart yo dry while I'm in work. I always struggle to get the seal really tight, I must be doing something wrong with the screws I think.

so earlier today i decided i would manually advance the tensioner by one click. got the carbs off again, this time without undoing everything as haynes suggests and just lifting them up out the way.

I need to get in and check my tensioner so I'm interested in your easier technique to get the carbs off. Please enlighten me...

I was listening to my engine with screwdriver and it all went wrong  ;)

« on: 28 March 2014, 11:25:07 am »
Hey, I've got a Nolan N103 helmet with the pinlock insert but with the visor closed it still fogs up if it's raining it gets pretty bad and then the rain gets in there when I open the visor and I'm screwed. I changed my pinlock a couple of months ago in the hope it would solve it. I thought Pinlock was supposed to be the shizzle! I don't find the airflow paarticulary good in the N103 but wouldn't have thought it'd fog up like this. Anybody have the same helmet or same problem with pinlock?
